This is until the sale is complete then it is buyer beware. I did buy a used vehicle "as is" but they assured me it had passed the million point inspection that they do with their used vehicles. I have now owned the car for just less than 2 months, have put in over 700 into repairs, spent 2 days totaling close to 8 hours at the dealership waiting for it to get fixed and on a $12,500 vehicle. I talked with the sales associate and then John Schmeltz himself who stated in a nutshell not much i can do for you, you bought it as is. He was very gracious and knocked off a total of 200 so the bill was close to 900. Now it has been 5 days since it was last in the shop with Schmeltz and the light is back on. This car is a lemon. So buyer beware when dealing with Schmeltz. I would think that you would be willing to work with your consumers more than telling them it is basically their fault for buying from us. I have dealt with other dealerships and they are more than willing to work with customers. I understand that if this were to have happened say 6 months down the road, yeah its on me but it didnt and Schmeltz was not willing to work with me. One other issue i have with this whole buying a car from Schmelz Countryside is when purchasing the vehicle the dealership was to replace an outlet door. We are currently on our 4th order, 2 wasted trips down to the dealership to get the "right" part just to have them order the wrong part. I have had 2 parts guys in my car and a third on the phone with VW home office, they still have not ordered the right part. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL More

Sad loyal customer After purchasing FOUR Saabs from this dealership and servicing them all solely there as well I am shocked at the treatment I've received with a curren After purchasing FOUR Saabs from this dealership and servicing them all solely there as well I am shocked at the treatment I've received with a current service problem. Even though the car likely had the problem when they sold it to me they have taken a defensive and accusatory approach to discussing and clearly don't care to resolve the issue..they did offer a small discount and we're HAPPY to offer to sell me an extended warranty. Appalling lack of concern for a very long term and loyal customer. More
Absolutely the worst dealership i've ever been to! Financing dept was a joke, they bump the interest rates to make themselves money, even when you qualify for a low rate. The warranties they offer to Financing dept was a joke, they bump the interest rates to make themselves money, even when you qualify for a low rate. The warranties they offer to you are a scam as well! DO NOT BUY from this place unless you want to find yourself refinancing in a month and left with a warranty that isn't useful! More
Timothy Kullman of Countryside Schmeltz provides an exceptional degree of attention to his customers, whether it is during the sales process or a service related issue years later. I recently called h exceptional degree of attention to his customers, whether it is during the sales process or a service related issue years later. I recently called him to ask about an issue that my daughter had with her Saab purchased from him six years ago, and now residing in California! He obtained the information for me within hours. When I told him that she was going to look at replacing the Saab with a used Passat from a California dealership, he asked if he could help her. He told me about a Passat recently acquired by Schmeltz with low miles, looked into shipping costs; and I recommended to my daughter that all things considered equal, I would buy a used car from Schmeltz. Why go through all the added trouble of shipping, etc. Several reasons. First, TK has provided our family and friends multiple cars over the past fifteen years. He knows cars, and will work on your behalf in finding the car to meet your budget. When you car needs service, you can expect that TK will confirm with service what is being done with your car. Secondly, Schmeltz ownership is engaged in the daily operations of the business, and this car had been purchased by Jonathan Schmeltz. He knows his cars and takes pride in making quality used cars available at fair prices. There will be no haggling or perception of being "sold". Third, follow up. Schmeltz made the sales process from registering the car to shipping to confirmation of delivery in California seamless. When I asked TK if I could place a gift in the trunk of the car before it was shipped for my grandson, he called me the day before and reminded me to get the gift up to Schmeltz if I still wanted to include this. As I left Schmeltz, Johnathan Schmeltz stopped me, and said he appreciated our business, and was glad they could help out with a family member in California. I told him I appreciated it, and reminded him that TK represents his dealership well! More
Mark did a great job from my first phone call to our visits to the show floor to view the VW Jetta, Passat and CC that were on display. He was exceptionally knowledgeble about features and benefits, and visits to the show floor to view the VW Jetta, Passat and CC that were on display. He was exceptionally knowledgeble about features and benefits, and I very much enjoyed the casual but informative atmosphere. Everyone we met was friendly and knowledgeble about the product line and financing options. Highly recommended for anyone shopping for any of the quality VW products. More
Great dealer. Great communication. I live 850 miles from this dealer where i purchased a low milage saab. The transaction was excellent and was easy over phone and email. The vibration from shipping from this dealer where i purchased a low milage saab. The transaction was excellent and was easy over phone and email. The vibration from shipping the car a long distance caused the car to be delivered with the check engine light illuminated. The sales staff and owner quickly resolved the issue with the damaged knck sensor. The car is awesome!! Excellent dealer! Would do business again for sure! More

Unbelievably careless customer service in most areas. I didn't buy my car from there because I couldn't make the deal work. This dealership is the closest VW dealer to my home. I found another dealer that didn't buy my car from there because I couldn't make the deal work. This dealership is the closest VW dealer to my home. I found another dealer that saved me approx. $3k dollars and was an additional 25 miles away. Thats a no brainer on whose getting the sale there. I still wanted to service my car at the closest dealership though. The service department staff other than Elizabeth (serv. Mgr) is pretty good but they just tell you what you want to hear so you'll leave them alone. Brought my car which I really enjoyed, other than its constant problems to them at Schmelz to get service/recall work done. They couldn't get it done that day and needed to get parts or something so I had to leave the car, get a ride home and then a ride back when the car was done. That was annoying but, not as annoying as seeing a scratch over 2ft long on the pass. side of the car when I came to pick it up. I was told they could try and buff it out but Elizabeth said that was done elsewhere not at the dealership but I had pics of my car taken in their lot when I dropped it off the day before because I just had a hunch my car wouldn't be kept safe there even locked in their fence. I'm glad I did because it proved someone there did it. They tried to buff it out and couldn't get it completely out and then they sent me away with an apology and a scratch. Then suddenly approx. 25 miles later the service light came on again. I just had it serviced there that day. They forgot to reset the light so I called them to see if I could do it myself and they said NO so I had to come back some time later and thought maybe they could rebuff the scratch again and add oil to the engine. (The VW 2.0 turbo drinks oil like it's a 2 stroke engine and VW of America says 1/2 a qrt of expensive German only synthetic oil will do or it'll void the warranty is acceptable to be consumed every 600 miles.( I wish I knew this before I bought it) Again Elizabeth at Schmelz says they don't use oil its something I'm doing wrong. I'm in my 40's I don't drive like a teenager and pound on my cars. I came in to get the service light reset and the oil topped off and the scratch rebuffed. They topped off the oil and rebuffed the scratch with no success but sent me away a second time without reseting my service light it came on right after I left the lot so I just turned around and went back. The only thing I could do is laugh about this because they are so incompetent. I tried trading in the car on another car at that dealership while waiting for the service to be done and Jonathan Schmelz the son of the owner John Schmelz is now running the place but don't call him Jr. he hates that. offered me the lowest trade offer on my car w/ 14k miles anyone or anywhere. I later traded it in a yr later w/ over 19k miles at a dealer for $16k. I felt like I won the lottery and got a nice car without those issues and no longer need schmelz for anything ever again. They go through staff like crazy you never see the same sales people you saw last time you were there even a month later. It must be rough working there too. More
I have a certified preowned (CPO)VW Passat. The service technician at this dealership tried to cheat me out 6 months of the warranty. Only after I called up VW customer service and insisted that they talk technician at this dealership tried to cheat me out 6 months of the warranty.
