I ordered a new F-150 pick-up truck through the salesman Bud Dyer. He was extremely knowlegeable about the available options and provide valuable insight so I received the best vehicle for the best price. I Bud Dyer. I was informed it would take 6 weeks before delivery and Bud continually kept me updated on the progress of the build. I was pleasantly suprised when I received delivery within 5 weeks. The finance department along with the service department were helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We have purchased/leased six Ford vehicles from Salerno Duance during the past ten years. We've dealt with Bud exclusively over that time. We just tell Bud what we're looking for and he puts the best deal together based upon Ford's then current specials, rebates, holdbacks, etc. Enough said. Stop reading. As a retired recently widowed woman out for the first time looking at automobiles I was filled with trepidation. Would a dealership be amused and condescending by a senior citizen with absolutely no idea time looking at automobiles I was filled with trepidation. Would a dealership be amused and condescending by a senior citizen with absolutely no idea how to proceed in selecting and evaluating a car that would be suitable for her driving requirements? Well, just one way to find out. I selected Salerno Duane because it was in a convenient location and I had passed it many, many times as I drove from my town into and through Summit. I made a phone call and spoke with Lionel James who invited me to visit the dealership that day. When I walked in, a gentleman stood up from his desk and said,"Hello, Barbara, my name is Lionel." That immediate, personal response clinched the deal for me. I felt special. There was nothing Lionel wouldn't do for me--answering my "dumb" questions with professionalism and charm, and especially patience. Within three days I was signed, sealed and delivered by Lionel who had me sit in the car while he explained the mechanics of it all, knaowing full well, of course, that I wouldn't remember much of it until I took possession and had time at home to read all the information in the voluminous books he gave me. To start, I can be a nasty, aggressive, and demanding customer, always looking for the best deal, always untrusting of dealerships and sales people, and I always do my research ahead of time. I am so difficult, that family refuses to come with me to a dealership because of how I can be difficult with the sales people. In the past, no matter which dealerships in NJ I have gone to, I found most to be the same and found alot of BS coming out of the mouths of the sales people. THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT SALERNO DUANE IN SUMMIT, NJ. I urge all of you to go out of you way, travel a distance if you have to, because the experience is well worth it. Bob Cerza was my sales person. From the minute you meet Bob, it is clear, he is a straight forward, get to the point, honest professional who WON'T tell you what you want to hear and who WON'T try and get over on you. I can honestly say that he is the first salesman ever that I actually was able to relax with, and totally enjoy the process of dishing out $35,000 for a car. You can tell he is old school in sales techniques where SERVICE, FAIRNESS, and HONESTY are the basics of his approach. He does not make the rookie mistake of trying to hit a homerun with every sale, with every step up to the plate. He realizes that he relies on repeat business so he goes out of his way to accomodate you and make you want to return as a customer. I know I am rambling but I honestly cannot say enough about Bob. He was a pleasure to work with and you cannot help but feel you made a friend when you walk out of that place. But, it does not stop with Bob. Every person at Salerno Duane that I came in contact with was the same. Obviously, aside from Sales people, you have floor managers and finance people to deal with too. All were great and easy to deal with. I actually spent like 30 minutes talking with the manager about Life and other personal things before I actually began signing paperwork. He was not rushing me and I actually made the first move to ask for the paperwork. It is nice to feel like the only customer. That is not common in the dealerships I have gone too previously. Bob and the others made me feel just that way. Thanks to all. Enough said, you would be a fool if you go somewhere else. As for the Ford Edge I have, I love it. While it may not be the greatest on gas, I knew that when I bought it and overall, it all comes down to how you drive the car. I have NO COMPLAINTS. In closing let me say this. I chose Ford because it is American. Most of my previous cars were NOT American. Although I did want a Nissan, again, I thought that I need to do my part in fixing this economy by keeping my money in this country, all of it. If everyone did their part and improved how they spend their money more, that will solve this problem with the economy. Furthermore, the net results for American Car Companies will result in Profit through the roof, no need for bailouts, and cheaper, better, products, not that they need it, but it is true. My purchase was an beautiful 2010 Ford Fusion SEL, which Bob steered me towards, and from the minute we took the car out for an test drive, I knew I had found my next new vehicle! I never had any problems reaching out to Bob, he was always available to me when I had questions, either via phone calls or emails.
