Our experience at Safford Chrysler Jeep & Dodge of Fredericksburg was really great! The entire staff was courteous and welcoming right from the beginning. He helped us find cars of interest to us and he was actively involved in the trade-in and purchase of a new car for us. He was very knowledgeable about the cars we looked at, professional at all times and he really listened to our questions and concerns. He has never tried to talk me or my husband into any unnecessary repairs or costs. He fully explains what the repairs will be and the costs before having any work done on my vehicle or my husbands vehicles and always calls if they turn up an unexpected problem that might delay the ready time. We had to replace a vehicle that was flooded. We were looking for an American made small/mid-size truck in a base model extend cab w/auto trans. The Ram Dakota fit the bill. Using the USAA buying service, we received 3 offers from local dealers. The exact model we wanted was not available at the closest dealer (we chose a discontinued model), so we used the base model price as a starting point. Troy offered an upgraded model at a price that was very close to the base model (+$1700). Considering the upgrades, it was not unreasonable. Leo offered better financing than USAA. So the higher price was offset by the lower interest rate. Overall we purchased a better truck for less money. Additional products (bed liner, extended warranty, etc.) were very competitively priced and offered with "no pressure". We were in/out in about an hour. We arrived at 8 pm with a closing time of 9 and did not feel pressured to complete the transaction. Bottom line: Do your homework, know your pricing and tell them what you want/need. Decide if you will purchase "extras" and any "gap" insurance as you can roll these into the total financing. They will work hard to make a deal. Just like any major purchase, EVERYTHING is negotiable. If not, walk away. I feel Safford Dodge worked every figure I was concerned about and we both ended up with a great transaction.
