After agreeing to a price through email I scheduled an appointment to pick up my new car. Only issue was that the dealership raised the rate of the car on me after I arrived. I agreed to the new price and appointment to pick up my new car. Only issue was that the dealership raised the rate of the car on me after I arrived. I agreed to the new price and requested to see all costs again before filling out more paperwork. The second time around they raised the agreed to processing fee. Hoped I had dodged a stereotypical dealer but turns out I was wrong. This place dampened my first new car buying experience. If you make a deal with this place prior to visiting, make sure you call ahead and confirm what they told you with the manager. No sense in wasting a weekend like I did. More
Wouldn't recommend Brown's Service or Sales to anyone. Hopefully, you are reading this before you decide to take your car here. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. The service rep, Tas anyone. Hopefully, you are reading this before you decide to take your car here. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. The service rep, Tasha, has poor communication skills with customers in part to her lack of basic intelligence. I took my car in for diagnostic testing and was told it would take one day. Over a week later, the testing still is not done and they can't tell me a specific problem with my vehicle. Also, they never, EVER, called me back when they said they would. Each day I would call to see when the car might be finished, and I was told I would hear back by the end of the day, and each day NO ONE called. I am waiting for a response from the Service Department so I can purchase another Mazda from Brown's in Fairfax. In fact, the Sales Manager at Brown's Fairfax was unable to get any information. At this point I am thinking about going to Rosenthal Mazda to purchase my new car. Unfortunately the Brown's Mazda Alexandria experience has made me dislike the entire Brown's name. More
Buying this vehicle from Robert was professional, transparent and hassle-free. I tried to buy a vehicle closer to home, but ended up walking out of that dealership when they just couldn't operate wi transparent and hassle-free. I tried to buy a vehicle closer to home, but ended up walking out of that dealership when they just couldn't operate with integrity or honesty. I was buying a vehicle under very difficult circumstances; my husband had died in a car accident; I was buying a replacement vehicle by myself for the first time in 25 years. Since my time was limited, most of the negotiation was done over e-mail -- Robert was great at providing the information I requested, calling to be sure he understood my requirements and honoring my request that I not be asked to sit through any sales pitches for rustproofing, extended warranties, etc. Before going to the dealership, I asked for - and was provided - the bottom line price that would cover taxes, tags, dealer fees -- I didn't want any surprises; not only did Robert stick by the price, two weeks later I received a small refund check. I came to the dealership with financing, but the Finance Dept. was able to beat the rate I had. Overall, this was a great experience. I highly recommend Robert and Brown's Mazda. More

Honest and very transparent about everything, every step of the way, not at all pushy, not the least bit condescending or predatory-feeling (and I'm a young, single, blonde female), and very responsive. If I needed to buy another car tomorrow, I'd go back without hesitation and highly recommend him/them. My experience: First, I *hate* car shopping. Hate it. Dread the process and would rather get a root canal every day for a month. But my car was totaled in Hurricane Sandy and I needed a new one, so I started reading reviews, checking local inventories, and requesting quotes online. Brian Bearce at Brown's Alexandria Mazda was the first person to respond, and it was clear he actually read my quote request because he sent me genuine follow up questions about what I wanted, not the VERBATIM form letter I got from every single other dealership (some even forgot to change the field that said <customer name here>). He was incredibly responsive over email for the rest of the evening as I asked about cars, options, and prices. He was great about providing detailed quotes at every step - whereas many of the other dealers that contacted me just wanted to get me in the door to test drive first and talk price later. (I want prices while I'm home and on my computer and can comparison shop! I'm not coming in until I think I've found a good deal.) Brian offered me a competitive price on a car I wanted, so I scheduled a test drive the next day. Despite the great email communication (polite, professional, not pushy in the least), I was still dreading actually walking into the dealership. In the past, I've felt like day-old carcass the way the vultures descended as soon as I walked in. But Brian was friendly and ...genuine. I didn't feel like I was on a clock and he wasn't overly familiar like some of the other salesman I dealt with. (You know the ones that act like you're their new best friend as soon as you meet them? That can't agree with you enough about everything you say while it's clear they're barely listening? I hate that, and this was the opposite.) Just genuinely friendly and professional. We went out to the lot, he took me straight to the car I asked to see, didn't try to show me any of the fancier models on the way, and let me look things over at my own pace. He showed me features when I asked, and talked to me like an intelligent person, but in non-car-speak. We took a test drive and I didn't feel rushed. He pointed out a few driving/performance features along the way and let me go as far as I wanted to in order to get a feel for the car. I still wasn't sure about the car when we got back, so I told him I wanted to think about it and he said, "I understand. It was great meeting you, and if you have any questions or want to come back for another drive or to check out a different car, just give me a call." That was it! No "what will it take to get you to change your mind and buy this car today" pressure. No wasting my time. Besides the time I spent driving, I was at the dealership for probably 20 minutes, tops. Looking at the car too, not sitting at a desk being grilled about "what's my price point?" I test drove that same car and a few other models at two other area dealerships the next day, and those salesmen were pushy, didn't listen, and in general just put me off in a big way. I stayed long enough to give them Brian's quote and ask them to beat it. They made me offers in writing, and I left, but not before they could summon the managers to try to pressure me into buying on the spot. I decided I did really like the car I drove (same model at 3 dealerships), so I emailed Brian, gave him the best price I'd been quoted, and he was able to come in just under that, which was *well* below invoice. I wanted one last test drive to be sure (hey, it's still a lot of money! I want to be sure!) and again, despite having spent 2 days emailing me and time on a test drive with me the day before, he was happy to go for another drive with me. I loved the car, I got a great price, and even the paperwork to actually buy the car didn't take very long. No waiting for hours while they try to sneak extras into the bill. Honest, up-front pricing. Consistently great customer service from start to finish. Great value, and great experience. (and how many times can you ever say that about car buying??) More

I'm not typically one to leave public reviews, however, my experience at Brown's was so exceptional that I feel it was necessary to let others know about this great dealership. I've bought a number of car my experience at Brown's was so exceptional that I feel it was necessary to let others know about this great dealership. I've bought a number of cars in my day, and Browns has been the only one to meet my expectations on EVERY level. It started with my contact with the salesperson who was great. He was friendly, upfront and honest. They did not have the car I really wanted, but they went above and beyond my expectation and got the car for me!!!! The sales process was not a headache, which I appreciate...one of my worst pet peeves is dealing with the negotiations at a car dealership, but with the help of Dareo(?) we were able to come to an agreement very quickly. I appreciate that he took my time into consideration and walked me through the process. From there I went into finance with the thought of "oh here we go, another frustrating battle" but it was nothing of the sort. I don't think I've ever made it through the paperwork process so smoothly before at any other dealer. Once all was said and done, not only did they personally go get the car I wanted, but they ran it through the service department to make sure it was perfect, ready and clean!! Because of my horrible experiences in the past with other car buying experiences, I was amazed at how happy I was to have done business at Browns. I will continue to bring my car there for service. Browns now has a loyal customer with the highest of recommendations!!!!! More
WOW!! What a great car buying experience. In my many years of living, I have never had such a good experience at buying a car. I, as most car buyers think at least twice about going to a dealership and years of living, I have never had such a good experience at buying a car. I, as most car buyers think at least twice about going to a dealership and sitting there for hours haggling over the price, trade in and other slipped in price increases. NOT FUN! Well, I had fun purchasing our Mazda CX 7 (Copper Red) from Brown’s Alexandria Mazda three days ago. My wife and have learned that when we purchase a large ticket item we had better know at least as much as the person selling. When buying this car we researched the Consumer Report and found that the Mazda has the best safety of most cars and we got a price range to consider. We then used USAA’s car purchase program and received their negotiated prices, which were good. We did not use USAA because they only had dealerships in Maryland and we did not want to drive 50 miles. We did however have another price range to consider. We then emailed several other dealerships for pricing which gave us additional price ranges to consider. We received a call from Dario, the sales manager, at Alexandria Mazda, located not far from our home. Dario said he had the car we were looking for and I said “give me your BEST and lowest price, I don’t want to haggle over price with a sales person. Dario gave me a price that met the best USAA pricing and below several of the other dealerships. We went to the dealership that afternoon and I still thought that we would be given a sales person who would want to haggle. We went straight to Dario and restated that we did not want to haggle. Dario said, “I want you to meet the sales person I mentioned in my email to you.” WOW – That is when the experience got better. We had the privilege to meet Anthony Arthur – what a wonderful person. Anthony started with the price quoted by Dario and as we were test-driving the new (2011) CX 7, Anthony was having our trade in evaluated. When we returned everything was ready for us. Because we arrived at the dealership late, we were still completing the paperwork at closing and Anthony never even thought to question it was time for him to go home as a matter of fact after the doors were locked Anthony was outside explaining the workings of the total car. The nest day we received an email from Anthony wanting to know if we had any additional questions. We returned and wanted to purchase a mirror with the ability to remotely open the garage door and again there was Anthony walking us through the process. No matter what people say about car salesmen – you need to meet Anthony Arthur before putting all salesmen into the same category. Because of Anthony and Dario, we had the BEST experience ever. Anthony is a good person from the heart. Bill & Shelley H More
I bought a car from Browns Mazda last year and recently needed to get some work done on the car (under warranty) - the service guy (who I will not name) was completely rude to us, extremely unprofessional. needed to get some work done on the car (under warranty) - the service guy (who I will not name) was completely rude to us, extremely unprofessional. Not to mention, when I explained the issue to him he sounded completely clueless as if he's never worked in a service dept. The sales dept will do whatever it takes to make you feel good so you can buy the car but once your sold say bye to "customer service"...and if your car has an issue - good luck with the so-called "service".
