I wanted to buy a “Hyundai Santa Fe”, so I walked into the “ROUTE 1 HYUNDAI” dealership at “3905 US-1, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852” on 04/18/2023 and met with their Sales person ‘Alejandro Vargas’ who was the “ROUTE 1 HYUNDAI” dealership at “3905 US-1, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852” on 04/18/2023 and met with their Sales person ‘Alejandro Vargas’ who was super helpful in explaining the features of this car and they also showed me the Tucson and gave me the pricing for both ‘Tucson’ [around $40K] and ‘Santa Fe SEL Premium AWD’ off the showroom price around $45K however did not offer me any discount. I told them that I need some time to do my research and will get back to them. When I spoke to one of my colleagues about my interest in purchasing Santa Fe and how it is highly priced, they suggested me to check if there are any deals on the corporate benefits hub/extras from the company I work for who has tie up with True car for employee discounts on AUTO purchase. Fortunately, I found a deal which was 5K lower than MSRP for a better trim ‘Santa Fe SEL Premium HYBRID AWD’ with an out of showroom price of $42K [includes all fees & taxes] however the deal was with “Wayne Automall Hyundai - 1935 Rte 202, 1935 NJ-23, Wayne, NJ 07470” which was ~50-55 miles away from Brunswick. Additionally, keeping in mind that this gentleman ‘Alejandro’ (sale executive) from Route-1 Hyundai at Monmouth Junction spent nearly an hour explaining the car to me I wanted to reach out to them to see if they would be able to price match this offer. So I called the “Route 1 – Hyundai” showroom on 04/21/2022, and asked for “Alejandro”. The receptionist said ‘Alejandro’ is on day-off therefore I asked to speak to their manager “Nick Mess”. The manager heard me explaining the offer on the call and asked me to come to the showroom and show the offer document so he can do his best with pricing. I went into the showroom within the next 15 mins and showed the manager “Nick Mess” the pricing and the deal [which was 5K less than MSRP] on a better trim. Everything went smooth until this point… Nick took my phone and went to his computer and compared their prices and said “NO WAY ON EARTH THIS PRICE OR DEAL COULD BE TRUE” and also showed what price his dealership is paying for those cars. ‘Nick Mess’ then called his colleagues to his desk and asked how this customer is getting this Corporate deal on a better TRIM than we quoted at a price of <5K to MSRP through ‘True Car’? His colleagues started crowding around his desk and started taking a look at the offer on my phone. The first colleague mocked at me with a muddy smile and sarcasm stating, “hope he is buying a used car”. I responded to him, “I’m here for serious business and not for your sarcasm”. All I’m saying is “Alejandro” (Your teammate) spent his time explaining the car features, I’m here as a respect for the time that gentleman has invested. Will you be able to price match this offer? The second colleague of Mr. Nick Mess now jumps in without an invite and says, “Dude seems like a SPAM, go drive 2 hours to Wayne and then come back to us after you get cheated so we can discuss pricing here”. I was puzzled for a moment and stood in shock, and asked myself I’m a customer with a genuine interest and why am I being treated this way? And within no time the third colleague of Mr Mess joins the party and asked me where am I working and how did I get this offer. When I responded for which company I work for and how I got this deal through my company's employee benefits portal, this guys went to an extent of throwing sarcasm and asking, “If my CEO will come and pay for me?” Now Mr Nick Mess intervenes and tells me “God Bless you”, if get this price else where… I walked out with so much anger and agony I straight walked out of this dirty place. I drove up to Wayne the same day, bought the ‘Santa Fe SEL Premium HYBRID AWD’ for less than 5K from MSRP 😊 The executives at "Wayne Automall Hyundai" were much professional and helpful. “Route 1 Hyundai” dealership not only mortified me but also lost my business which may not be a big deal for them as I’m not their only More
