My wife and I have purchased at least six cars from Rodland Toyota over the past 25 years. We just purchased a new 2012 RAV4. Our sales person was Rob Olsen who we were most impressed with. We appreciated his low key approach and all the help and effort he provided in helping us reach a decision. I would highly recommed him and certainly request him if we were to buy another car from Rodland. Arne & Arden Johannesen More

We like to do our research ahead of time and test drive all options and then narrow down the list to 2. The go back and test drive again and purchase. We've already test drove a Kia Sorento at Performance Kia and a Hondar CRV at Kline Honda. I had actually researched Toyota dealers ahead of time using this site and saw that Rodland had decent reviews. 10 yrs ago we tried to purchase a Toyota Corolla at Magic Toyota in Lynnwood. We had such a bad experience it is the reason we ended up with option number 2 the Ford Focus. Going into this possible test drive the Rav4 is already in the top 2 of our list. We just wanted to test drive it and verify that everything we've read jives with the real thing. If it does we will most likely be coming back in 6 months to purchase the Rav4. Part of the reason we test drive is not only to test the vehicle, but to also test the dealership to see if we want to give them our business in the future. At this point in time both Performance Kia and Kline Honda had been very professional and nice to us. No high pressure sales. The just let us drive their vehicles. Kline Honda at this point was the best. The salesman had come out, gave us a tour of all the features on the vehicle and then let my family and I test drive it without him present. When we returned it he just asked "how did you like it?" which we told him we did and then we left. This is exactly how we want to be treated when we show up and ask for a test drive. No pressure sales. Just let us drive the vehicle and leave. Anyway we arrived at Rodland with paperwork in hand. I always have the exact model I like to test drive printed out to speed up the process and eliminate confusion. This has worked very well at the previous 2 dealers. Well Darryl didn't really want to play that game. He decided to do the typical dealer walk through of various Rav4's. He did finally take us to the v6 Sport which is what I wanted to test drive. He went over it a little bit with me asking all of the questions. That was fine. Then he started to ask his own questions. I had already said I wanted to test drive what I had printed out. He started asking what other vehicles we have test driven. I mentioned the CRV. He launched into a story about a 2005 CRV that he had that he didn't like and was glad to get rid of. Next he wanted to know what vehicle we wanted to trade in. We told him none at this time we just wanted to test drive the Rav4. When the time is right we will trade in the Focus that had been a great car for us. This then led to him talking about how he had a Focus as well and what a great car it was for him as well. My suspicion was starting to grow at this point. Because either he's owned a lot of cars in his past or he's lying to me. Fine, whatever, I just want a test drive and this dialogue is starting to bore me. That's when he goofed with me. He asked what our time frame was in a car purchase. My wife told him towards the end of the year when we have the van paid off we will then purchase a new car. We prefer only 1 car payment at a time. That's when he of course offered to "pay our van off for us" in order to purchase a car today. FAIL! You don't just pay my van off. You roll that into the loan of the new car. No thanks! I don't want to pay interest for the next 5 years on my van when it will be paid off in the next 6 months! Sigh... I was so hoping this would be the dealer that I would come back to in 6 months to purchase a new car. We then pushed to test drive the Rav4 and that's when we found out why he was stalling. He didn't have a Rav4 Sport with a backup camera in it to test drive. The previous vehicles had all had that feature and we want to compare each manufacturer on that feature, because they all do it a little bit different and it's a feature that's new to us. We asked if he could double check if he had one on the lot somewhere. That's when he also mentioned that he would "have to go with us" on the test drive. Now.. as I mentioned earlier we have test driven 2 different vehicles with 2 different dealers prior to this. Both dealers let my entire family(4 people total) go on the test drive without a salesman present. There never was an issue over this. Darryl apparently has a problem with this. He left to go check his inventory, but by this time he's already not doing very well with us and our desire to test drive is pretty much gone. He eventually came back without a Rav4 to test drive so we left. Unfortunately we will not be going back to Rodland Toyota. We will now have to search for a dealer on the Eastside to get our test drive and possibly, eventually purchase with them.I'm disappointed because the Rav4 is #1 on my list and it won't take many more bad dealers to move it down to #2. Sigh... More
I first contacted Rodland through their internet dept, asking for pricing, which I didn't receive at first from Wendy, only an offer to come in and look at the car. We did come in to look over the weeken asking for pricing, which I didn't receive at first from Wendy, only an offer to come in and look at the car. We did come in to look over the weekend and were greeted by Chris Jekey who showed us a car, but we weren't ready to buy at that point. After receiving a quote from another dealership that appeared to be a good offer, until we actually attemped a purchase we came back to Rodland. I'd rate the other dealership in the minus star category. I came to Rodland with pricing information from the sales manager, Jeff Larson, after a phone call, and was greeted by Brandon Huynh. I let him know that I had an offer from the Jeff and told him what I would accept for my trade-in (per what I found on Kelly Bluebook). Brandon and Jeff accepted my trade-in request and the deal was completed right there without any of the "back & forth" negotiating. Brandon was very professional, without any pressure and was very good about explaining the details of our new car as well as letting us know about the service facilities at Rodland. The paperwork was handled by Tom Staniford, again without undue pressure to purchase extra cost options. More

My wife and I were not expecting to buy a new car. We had talked about it but were not real sure whether we could afford it or not. Darryl was the salesman we dealt with and he was friendly, knowledgeable an talked about it but were not real sure whether we could afford it or not. Darryl was the salesman we dealt with and he was friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. After looking at a couple of used cars we hadn't found anything that spoke to us. He took us over to some new Corollas and explained to us how to make the car work with our budget through leasing first and then buying the car at the end of the lease. They worked hard to get us out and on the road quickly as my wife had to get to work. Overall the experience was a pleasant one. We bought our other Toyota here and will most likely come back to buy our next one too when it is time. More
