Best car buying experience ever!! Me and my girl friend were in a search for her first newer car. After a horrible time at a dealership in Sarasota we called Rivard and spoke with Ben about a '14 VW TDI Passat they had on Autotrader. He was polite and said they still had it so we headed to see it. When we arrived he had already pulled the car out for us and put a tag on it. He explained how much they strive to be different from other dealers in a sense of an enjoyable buying experience. He handed us the keys and just asked we be back by the time they closed. Didn't throw us a sales pitch and didn't insist he go with us. When we returned we had some concerns with some cosmetic issues on the vehicle and Ben pulled his detail guy over immediately to take care of them. The car was priced extremely fair that there was no hassle in negotiation and no need for it. Ben offered us a few different options and explained to my girlfriend about extended warranties and financing. We declined the extended warranty and that was it, he didn't try to convince us to buy it or pressure us into its something we MUST have! It was too late to call the banks as we got there on a Sunday at 4:30. The next day we headed up to pick up the car. Ben had requested all documents to be emailed to him before we got there so there was no waiting around as my girlfriend works nights and needed to be to work that evening. My girlfriend also noted to Ben that the car pulled a little when she test drove it. Ben had the car washed, tires rotated & balanced, alignment and even an oil change!! When we got there it took 10 minutes to sign all paper work and be on our way. One added bonus is Ben was the ONLY person we had to speak with the entire time. I've been in the auto industry for 10 years and worked at various new car dealerships in the past. I can honestly say none of them compare to the quick and honest service we received from Rivard, to be quite honest I didn't think customer service like what we received even existed anymore! My girlfriend is extremely happy with her car and more so she keeps telling me how happy she was with the buying experience. I would highly recommend Rivard as a place to look for a new or used car! manipulation alert!!!! I was a loyal customer of James Rivard Buick GMC for over 5 years and only took my car to them for any service. it was a good experience, until my car I was a loyal customer of James Rivard Buick GMC for over 5 years and only took my car to them for any service. it was a good experience, until my car hit about 125,000 miles. Then suddenly, the repairs needed came with a recommendation to trade in my vehicle for a new, or at least newer one. When I declined to trade my car, which I STILL love, the problems started. First, my fuel tank began leaking immediately after they performed routine maintenance. It appeared to me that they very well may have damaged my plastic tank with a poorly positioned lift, but I trusted them, and just had them replace it. I told the service writer up front that I wanted my old tank back so I could attempt to repair it. When I picked up my car, my old tank had disappeared. I still trusted them and did not make a huge issue out of and accepted some service credit in exchange for the missing fuel tank. Then a few months later things went very wrong. Again, IMMEDIATELY after regular maintenance, my car developed MAJOR transmission problems. They had flushed my transmission at least 4 or 5 times before and it always worked fine. This time they performed the BG Products flush, which I did not find out the change until I noticed the MUCH higher price for the service on the bill. The service writer then proceeded to lie to me repeatedly about the situation. At one point, they had their "#1 tranny guy" tell me the transmission could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. The service writer then tried to sell me a car. I did not stand for this obvious attempt at manipulation and demanded they repair it. And repair it they did......for, supposedly, their cost of the parts and no charge for labor. The bill was still $490.00. When I asked the service writer how he could square the fact that they had repaired my transmission, when their "#1 tranny guy" said it couldn't be done, the service writer stated, I kid you not, "that's just something we tell people". These lying vermin will never touch a vehicle of mine ever again. You have been warned. More
