I mention this to assist you with my understanding of servicing BMW vehicles over the last decade. Our daughter attends the College of Charleston and needed new shocks and some cosmetic items replaced in the interior. She went to Rick Hendrick BMW to assess the repairs with their service technician named Ed Ward, order any parts needed, and then set an appointment for installation upon the arrival of the parts so it would be a one-day service appointment. The day of the appointment, the car was dropped of first thing in the morning and by 1pm we had not heard a status so I called Ed. There was no return call so knowing the service department would be closing in a few hours, I called Ed again at 2pm. Still no return call so I tried Frank, the service manager, however I was simply placed on hold whereby no one answered and no one returned to me on hold. At 3pm I heard from Frank. He informed me that the cosmetic items were done in the morning however they have been assessing the car for additional items to repair for $2K-$3K, including the shocks previously discussed and ordered a week prior. At this time, Ed informed me that he would need to order the shocks, which we thought we have previous ordered a week earlier when we were at the dealership, and that he would need to hold the vehicle for another 2 business days at a minimum. I let Ed know my frustration and that this was not acceptable, and asked that he simply make the vehicle ready for pick up and that we would pay for the cosmetic repairs and have the mechanical repairs performed by Bimmer, a BMW service company that does excellent work and performs timely, and as requested. Ed's response, "sounds good, have a good day". Wow! When I purchase a vehicle, I purchase it from a dealership based on their ability to service the vehicle. With this in mind, I can not recommend Rick Hendrick BMW to anyone, and frankly, I would highly discourage it. More
Great service from an excellent service advisor Terry Troutman is an excellent service advisor at this location. We have been using this dealership for the last 7 years to maintain our 2006 525i. Amazing Purchase Experience In life, buying an automobile is one of those experiences you fully and completely expect to be, at best, unpleasant and, at worst, excruciatingl In life, buying an automobile is one of those experiences you fully and completely expect to be, at best, unpleasant and, at worst, excruciatingly painful. It’s something you have to do (like paying taxes, or getting a new driver’s license, or driving to Columbia), but hate the thought of actually going through the process. My husband and I recently embarked on that normally disagreeable journey and, fortunately, not only was the experience neither unpleasant nor painful, it was actually enjoyable. That was, of course, only because we first visited Rick Hendrick BMW and luckily were assisted by Umut Engin - the most pleasant, proficient, and professional automobile salesman either of us have ever met. After doing some fairly extensive internet research, we had a good idea of the type of vehicle I wanted to purchase. We presented our ideas to Umut and in very short order he “built” the car I ultimately bought. He presented all of the available up-grade options, as well as the existing financing possibilities. (In this Andrew Robinson assisted). All of this was done in Umut’s calm and, most importantly, non-pushy and very accommodating manner. After an hour or so, I had the automobile she wanted and I placed the order. We understood, of course, that I was not going to be taking the car home that day, but would be picking it up in a few weeks. Fortunately, it was going to be built in Spartanburg so I did not have to wait too long. During the interim, Umut periodically updated us on the vehicle’s status and the progress of the construction. About a month after our initial visit, Umut called me and said the car was ready and available for pickup. He took me through the vehicle’s “ins and outs” and made sure I was satisfied with the purchase. The X-3 looked even better than I had imagined. The advertising is not fluke - BMWs are truly the ultimate driving machines. As an aside, Umut has continued to be in contact with us regarding the car and my level of satisfaction. Needless to say, my husband and I have purchased a number of automobiles in our lives – both together and separately – from various dealerships in the Charleston area and elsewhere. No other car buying endeavor comes close to the one we had with Umut. We heartily recommend him and hope this review helps others actually have a pleasurable experience at an automobile dealership. I also want to heartily commend and recommend Andrew Robinson (Finance Manager) and Florens Verstraten (New Car Sale Manager). They were both instrumental in my purchase. In fact, all of the Rick Hendrick BMW staff we came into contact with were very pleasant, accommodating, and professional. We will be returning there in the future and have already recommended the dealership and Umut to a number of our friends, relatives, co-workers, and business associates. As an aside, our experience was so very good that my husband leased a BMW X3 from Rick Hendrick BMW a little over six months later using Umut, Andrew, and Florens. Obviously, we were and remain pleased with the relationship. More

Worst. Service. Ever. My advice is to avoid this place. Long story short, they misdiagnosed an issue with my car...charged me $450 to "fix" it...TRIED to charge me another My advice is to avoid this place. Long story short, they misdiagnosed an issue with my car...charged me $450 to "fix" it...TRIED to charge me another $2,000 to perform additional work (which would have been unnecessary), which I declined...and, as it turns out, had missed "probably THE most obvious cause of that issue", according to a reputable BMW dealer up north, who charged me only $120 total to fix it properly. "Service" Manager Rob Moore promised me - three times - that he'd send me half of my $450 back. (Why not the whole thing? Who the xxxx knows.) Still no refund. It's now been nine weeks since I took my car there. I hate dealing with service organizations who provide such horrendous service and then make up for it by lying. More

I gave Chris a challenge as I had asked for specifics such as: Price, Mileage, Features, Color, Style, Make, Model, Condition, Sound Package, Rim Size etc. The first car Chris showed me was the one I ended up purchasing from him. Chris Compton's enthusiasm about BMW and their quality of service the dealership provides sold me instantly. Chris spent quality time with me and made me feel a part of the BMW family. Overall, the level of service from Chris Compton and other staff members was fantastic! The presale, during sale and post-sale communication was spot on and I wouldn't have asked for anything to be any different. We plan to buy a X5 or X6 in the next year or two and Chris will be the first call I make, as I know he will not disappoint. Thank you for having such a wonderful group of employees. From the very beginning, the service at Rick Hendrick BMW of Charleston was great: As an "out-of-town" buyer, Stephen Clinch (dealer), took high resolution pictures as if he were buying the car. Additionally, he was in touch with me on a daily basis- Again, all before any sort of commitment to buy the vehicle! After flying down to take a look at the car, Stephen picked me from the airport in the prospective car, allowing me to drive back to the dealership. After a long day, and the expectation the deal would be delayed over night, Stephen was willing to drive me out to Charleston AFB for the night. Of all my car buying experiences, Rick Hendrick BMW, especially Stephen Clinch, really pulled out the stops on customer service. Thank you, Stephen, and thank you, Hendrick BMW for being so customer oriented. More
