My 90 year old grandmother has been put on palliative care. She was convinced about 18 months ago to lease a car from Rick Case Kia. She leased a 2018 red Kia Soul for $299 a month on a 36 month lease. Y care. She was convinced about 18 months ago to lease a car from Rick Case Kia. Yesterday I called the dealership and spoke to one of the managers and told them the scenario that we were looking to find a way to get out of the lease. He asked me how many miles were on the car and I told him just under 8,000. He then asked me how much money she put down on the lease and I told him $2,700. He then asked me his final question which was how many payments remain and I told him 15 which would equate to about $4,500. Since the finance company told me I needed to speak with the dealer this is why I called them directly. They told me due to the low mileage as long as the car is in good condition which it is as long as the car has no accidents which it doesn't they would be willing to take the car back pay off the remaining lease payments and sell it as a used vehicle. Excited that I was going to get my grandmother out of her financial responsibility while being put on palliative care and no longer being able to drive I took the car into the dealership. They were very nice but typical car dealership they told me to come in and wasted my time. At the end of the day they told me I needed to pay $3,800 if I wanted them to take the car back. I'm not sure why this dealership decides to waste people's time when I gave them very specific details prior to me driving the vehicle all the way down to their dealership. I would be very cautious about buying a vehicle from a dealership that tells you one thing over the phone and then gives you a totally different story when you walk in the door with the vehicle. You would think a local name like Rick Case would be more willing to work with a senior that shouldn't have been placed into a lease payment from the beginning. I'd never buy a vehicle from a Rick Case Dealership! More
