Disappointing I live in Mobile, Alabama and I have been shopping for a new car. While down on vacation, I went to Regal to see about a '19 Sorento. I found a nice I live in Mobile, Alabama and I have been shopping for a new car. While down on vacation, I went to Regal to see about a '19 Sorento. I found a nice one and proceeded to make a deal. The salesman Deon Box was very nice and the manager, Mike Galloway was helpful, although a little pushy. But, nothing too bad. I told him where my payments needed to be, $450 and no more, except for an extended warranty cost. My last car had a warranty to 100,000 miles and it only cost me about $25 extra per month. He had my payments right here when I went to talk to the finance manager. I can't remember his name, but he is Serbian. This is where the pressure was! First of all, I told him I needed an extended warranty. He came up with one that would raise my month payment over $80 a month! I told him "NO" and he gave me a lower one, but it was still almost $2000. He told me that my FICO score was 818 which is A+++. He finally came up with my payment of $493 a month. I wasn't happy, but I needed a car to go home on and signed the papers. Let me make sure everyone understands. I am 60 years old and broke some of my own rules about dealing with car dealers. However, after being there for 3 and a half hours, I was tired of the haggling and signed. However, after I got home to Mobile, I was looking at the contract and saw where my APR was 6.19%! Far more than my 818 score should have earned me. I immediately went to my bank here and they couldn't believe the rate that the dealer gave me. I know the "game". The REAL rate that Ally bank was giving me was 4.19% and the dealership has a kickback of 2% that goes back to them. I should have known better. The Finance manager even told me that he had only shopped my score to 2 banks, Ally and Capitol One. I found out later, these are two of the most expensive banks there are to finance a car with. Oh well! Live and learn. I am in the process of refinancing my loan with MY bank up here. It's only 4.14%. Later on, the phone rang and it was this sweet little girl calling to thank me for my purchase and to ask me how I liked my deal. She shouldn't oughta done that!! While polite, I told her that I was not happy and could not recommend their dealership. She then connected me to the new car manager and all he was able to say is "Sorry, you had a problem. We'll try to do it better next time." I told him that their isn't going to be another "next time" for me. Satisfied with the car and even the deal on the price, not so much with the finance manager. Very terse and rude even running by me one time when I wanted to ask him a simple question. He said, "I'm late for a meeting!" I thought that customers were more important than some dumb meeting.
