Good Morning Stacy, Our dealership is a place you can trust for your vehicle needs. I want to assure you of that. Based on the complaint you had with the vehicle, the technician will follow the appropriate models service manual for testing components and ultimately the service manual will give the technician a repair procedure based on that diagnostic. If following the service manual procedure, all components pass the outlined tests, the service manual will inform the technician to return the vehicle to the customer. Looking back at the records it shows that we cleared the diagnostic trouble code, all tests for the system passed per the service manual and as stated, returned the vehicle to the customer. It shows in a future visit we did replace the VTC solenoid as the system did recode, and per the service manual, replacement of the solenoid was the repair for that particular diagnostic trouble code per American Honda. An additional visit provided a different diagnostic trouble code for crank/cam correlation, which ultimately led to the recommendation to replace the timing chain per the service manual. The timing chain as you are aware was on a back order status for a period of time. Your research provided you with a 150K mile timing chain replacement interval. Similar to a timing belt that has a replacement interval recommendation, the timing chain does not have a specific replacement recommendation. It needs only to be replaced if diagnostic proves a failure or defect with the timing chain. When changing the oil, our service department always places a interval sticker based on time or mileage as a "safety net" to provide the customer with a recommendation for an oil change interval. There is also the manufactures "maintenance minder" system that customer's will decide to follow in place of the recommendation. This is fine as customers have different driving habits and ultimately it is the customer's decision. The "months ago" experience you describe is unacceptable from our standpoint, and any employee that leads a customer to feelings of disrespect are dealt with immediately and swiftly if we are informed of situation.
