So on June 5th we d My wife and I had been looking for a car for sometime. We knew what we wanted and what it would cost for us to purchase a car. So on June 5th we decided to go to Anderson to look. I have known about the Ralph Hayes dealership for years, and heard good things about it. So we stopped to look around and see what you had. When we pulled up we were greeted by George Hooper, introduced ourselves and told him what we were looking for (a used Camry or Accord around 10-12k). He invited us to come into the showroom and sit in his office. That is when everything went south. We were told to wait and they would find us a car to fit our budget. A few minutes later the salesman came and got us to look at the car "they" had found for us. It wasn't even close to what we were looking for. It was a small Suzuki something. We told him this was not what we wanted. We were asked to go back to his office to be seated and wait again. About 10 to 15 minutes later the salesman came back to let us know he found us another car. We went out side to look at the car. Again it was not what we were looking for. It was a Camry, but it was newer than we could afford. He kept telling us that he could fit this one into our budget, but would not tell us the asking price until I kept insisting that he tell me. It was more than we could afford. The salesman proceeded to show us two more cars on the lot. They too were not what we liked and also too expensive. By that time we had been there around 2 hours and had not acomplished a thing. We told the salesman we had other things we had to do and if we could not find anything else we would keep him in mind and let him know. He walked us back to the showroom and went to get us his bussiness card. As we started to walk out the door, Don Evans the sales director, and Mr. Hooper came to the door. We were told he had something we could get into for around $280 a month. It was a lease. I told him I did not want a lease, and I would not qualify for a lease because of my credit. Mr. Evans asked us to come back inside and talk. We explained to him that we really had to go, we had other plans. He said " well just leave then, go, get out, go on". Repeating this a couple of times while he was making hand gestures motioning us out the door, as you would do an animal. Mr. Hooper had an odd look on his face as if he were embarrassed about what had just taken place. My wife's jaw just dropped. More
I purchased a 2011 4-Runner from Ralph Hayes Toyota last week. I could not have asked for a better car-buying experience. Tim Willis and Don Evans worked diligently to get me the car I wanted, fitted exac week. I could not have asked for a better car-buying experience. Tim Willis and Don Evans worked diligently to get me the car I wanted, fitted exactly the way I wanted it. In a nutshell: I researched everything to death...I sat down...stated what I hoped to pay for the 4-Runner and what I hoped to get for my trade...and they came back with a better deal. The price was what I hoped to pay and I got much more for my trade-in than expected. Jeff, the finance manager, was also a pleasure to work with. Despite the fact that they were closing shop for the night when I finished with paperwork, Tim Willis took the time to help me pair my phone to the car's blue tooth and explain how a few things worked in the car. A couple of days later I returned to have an installation done. Tim Willis and Don Evans saw me shopping for some accessories while I waited. They both treated me like a 5-star customer...and let's just say that Don made sure the price was right on my accessories. I have been a regular service customer of Ralph Hayes Toyota (routine service and emergencies) since I bought my last vehicle there in 2002. Johnny Johnson, the shop manager, has taken care of it since then. I have always felt as though he has bent over backwards to be helpful, honest and fair. I look forward to many more years of helpful service from him...and I look forward to seeing the look on his face when he sees that I FINALLY got rid of the old Sienna! Thanks Don, Tim, Johnny, and Jeff for making me feel like I am your only customer! I also appreciated the prompt Thank You card and the follow up call from Tim. If I was forced to come up with complaints, it would be that they weren't giving the 4-Runner away, that Johnny doesn't work out of my garage at home, and that Tim and Don didn't give me any opportunity to haggle. Like most people buying a new car, I went in prepared to haggle. Thanks for robbing me of that experience Ralph Hayes Toyota! Keep up the great work! Sincerely, Bryan Bacher, Anderson, SC More
Although I bought my Toyota in California, since moving to South Carolina I go to Ralph Hayes for my oil changes. I am considering a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser as my next car since my current car is 90,000 mi to South Carolina I go to Ralph Hayes for my oil changes. I am considering a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser as my next car since my current car is 90,000 miles and showing it. The FJ is about $30,000 dollars and I want to make sure I buy from a dealer that I feel comfortable with. Right now I would even drive to Charlotte, NC to buy one. When I wait for my car to be serviced, I test the sales associates by smiling at every one of them that walks by. Not one returns the smile. It is a feeling that since I already have a Toyota, they don't have to bother being nice since you already bought one. So much for Southern hospitality at Ralph Hayes Toyota. They need to consider the people who will stay with the brand, and not have the attitude that you already have a Toyota so you are waste of effort to smile at. The Service associates however are very, very nice. More
The overly friendly sales staff ignore you once your purchase is made. Word of warning: Do not go to Ralph Hayes Toyota for service after your warranty has expired. My wife went in with our second car, purchase is made. Word of warning: Do not go to Ralph Hayes Toyota for service after your warranty has expired. My wife went in with our second car, a 1995 Camry, for an oil change. They said she had an oil leak and it cost her $2,200.00! There was never one drop of oil on our garage floor. When she drove it home it leaked like a sieve and had to return. The owner and service manager would not give when I requested some of the money back. Our next cars will be a Hondas or Hyundais, even though I like Toyotas. I jsut can't see driving out of tow More
I have bought 2 Toyota's from this dealer since 1996 and my Mother has bought 1. We both have had excellent service, they are friendly and easy to deal with. They do everything they can to try to get you th my Mother has bought 1. We both have had excellent service, they are friendly and easy to deal with. They do everything they can to try to get you the best deal possible. We have both been looking into buying a new Toyota and have visited Ralph Hayes 2x so far and Easley Toyota once - Ralph Hayes is under new management since we last purchased from them, but the sales staff is still just as nice and helpful - it remains to be seen if they will still go out of their way to get us the best deals - when we finally decide on the car and deal we want. When we went to Easley, we weren't that impressed with them, although they are better than they used to be, or we just happened to get the 1 nice salesman there, but he didn't go back trying to get a better offer than the first one he got us and Ralph Hayes did. They never you give you best offer the first time, but Easley acted as if they did - I wonder how many people fall for that? More
