Lexus automobiles are great cars and at the top of the reliability ratings of all cars. We decided to consider a Lexus ES300H to replace an aging 3 series BMW. The challenge was finding one to test drive reliability ratings of all cars. We decided to consider a Lexus ES300H to replace an aging 3 series BMW. The challenge was finding one to test drive before ordering one. There are no dealers near us in Viginia so we checked online Richmond and the dealer in Northern Virginia, both had 3 in stock or transit We called and neither actually had cars for us to see and drive. We then checked CarMax and they had a used 2022 with low miles in Virginia Beach, a little less than 3 hours away. We called and they stated they had the car and would hold it until we arrived to see and drive it. One the way I decided to see if there was a Lexus dealer in Virginia Beach just on the chance, they might have one and we could also investigate the cost and timing of ordering a new one. The Priority Lexus website had a 2022 and Parker, their internet sales manager arranged for us to see it at 3PM. We were excited to see two in one day. At CarMax the car was ready when we arrived and the salesperson (Bobby) was great. We drove the car and loved it, but my wife didn't want a white ES300H. We arrived on time at Priority Lexus and Darrell, a nice salesperson greeted us at the door. We said we had an appointment with Parker, and he said there was nobody named Parker. I showed him the appointment on my phone, and he said Parker was a computer, but they did have a used 2022 ES300H, and it was at their Norfolk location. He quickly offered to have somebody bring it over and we said that was not necessary, could we get a quote on a new one? He said sure and gave us a brochure and showed us examples of the colors on other models which was helpful. My wife decided what she wanted, and I asked for the delivered cost in writing. (No trade) Just as a summary was being handled to me, I asked what the $2,995.00 market adjustment was for and they said it was an error the market adjustment was actually $5,000.00 over MSRP. We asked again if we could get a corrected copy in writing. This time the market adjustment was gone, but the MSRP listed was ($5,000+) over what the Lexus.com site had for the same car and options. (I have a copy) We investigated, and car dealers cannot change MSRP, they can add to it below the line) We left and said we would get back to them the next day both Richmond and the NOVA dealer's internet salespeople (actual people) called. They both offered whatever we wanted at MSRP. I checked on a ES300H Facebook group and asked how much people paid over MSRP and 14 responded in a few hours they paid MSRP or below. I contacted Priority pointing out that the MSRP price on the Priority offer was incorrect. I received a nice apology note back from Darrell and no word from the manager, Doug. I emailed back that we would pass as we would not pay over MSRP. I contacted Lexus through their website and received a nice note back, but no action except a survey which I completed and resulted in no action. We contacted one of the other Virginia dealers and ordered what we wanted at of course at MSRP. While we waited Priority sent me an automatic update that they had a ES300H in stock. We asked if they actually had it and a different salesperson texted Yes. To make a long story short we said we would be interested at MSRP minus $2,000 (our deposit). They came back with an offer of $300.00 over MSRP. The irony is we would have bought that car for MSRP had our first experience been better. Bottom line: If you’re buying a Lexus you should definitely shop around especially if you’re dealing with Priority or you could pay thousands more than necessary. You also need to check any offers Priority makes carefully so you know what you are really paying. More
Matt failed to explain the issues found my with vehicle along with what the warranty covered. I had to do research myself, and drove back to LEXUS to present my findings. Also, when my car was done, it was along with what the warranty covered. I had to do research myself, and drove back to LEXUS to present my findings. Also, when my car was done, it was parked up front for about 30mins. I walked back to Matt and mentioned I saw my car parked and I assumed it was ready. I should have not had to assume my car was done. I was never called up front for payment. I took the initiative. Not satisfied. More
