We bought our first pre-owned Volvo from Portland Volvo in 2001. It had 41,000 miles on it. We turned it in this past week with 268,000 miles. All the servicing was done at Portland Volvo. Peter Boroyan was the salesman who sold us the 2001 Volvo. He knew his subject cold but was very low-key, and never aggressive about selling the car. He answered all our questions and guided us through the whole process. When it came time to but another pre-owned Volvo, Peter was the only person we wanted to see. Again, he went way out of his way to help us meet our needs. In fact, he met with us on two separate days of his vacation just to make sure that the paperwork went smoothly. Our experience was exceptional, and we would recommend Portland Volvo to all our friends. More

From the initial call to salesman Peter Boroyan to the moment we drove our Volvo off the lot, we knew we were in the hands of professionals who excel in customer service and commitment to excellence. In the days of end-of-year rebate offers, Cash for Clunkers and end of the month purchase activity, Peter and sales Manager Michael Pierter somehow made us feel that we were their only customers! They aggressively pursued the car we had our hearts set on, even through it involved dealing with a Volvo dealership 340 miles distant and negotiating a very challenging trade for the vehicle we hoped to obtain. Michael and Peter were tenacious, communicated with us often and let us know about every possible savings option available, When Peter learned that I worked in education, he pointed me toward an additional $1500 savings through my NEA membership. Coupled with customer loyalty discounts, end-of-year discounts and very aggressive pricing, we left feeling that we were fortunate to purchase our new Volvo with significant savings. We experienced absolutely no pressure; our conversations were devoid of any haggling and we feel that customer respect and integrity are the hallmarks of Portland Volvo. We are thrilled that a new car purchase could be so much fun! As we celebrated our new car, we felt that Peter and Michael were truly happy that they had been able to put us in the car we wanted. This was no small task, given the scarcity of 2009 models with the equipment we had requested. We intend to have our vehicle serviced at Portland Volvo and my tour of the Service Department demonstrated to me how the ethos of the dealership extends to the mechanics through the attention of Service Director Mark Arsenault. From the initial contact, through the sales transaction and post follow-up service Kate provided excellent, super-friendly customer service. And upon visiting Portland Volvo to pick up the new XC60 I met with Thomas N and James G. who both added to the exceptional, overall experience at Portland Volvo. Not once did anyone ever impose the sterotypical car purchase pressure that most all other dealers reinforce. If anything they made this one of the few car purchase experiences where I left in under an hour and had the most seemless transition from one brand to a new brand. My overall experience at Portland Volvo was one that eagerly bears repeating to anyone in the market for a new (or pre-owned) vehicle. Kudos to the Portland Volvo team! More

I was welcomed by Kate and a very friendly staff at Portland Volvo. I looked a few preowned, drove one and liked it. I went home to ponder buying it, when I started crunching numbers and looking at all the incentives Volvo was offering it seemed to make sense to buy new. So I went back over and looked at the same model but brand new, Kate and Tom, the a sales manager made me a great offer on my trade in and a new car. I was a little uncomfortable with the size of the car both inside and out. When I mentioned to them that I was unsure and that buying new was not imperative they came up with some great options of preowned in a different model and in my price range. We made a deal in less then a half hour. I assume it would have behooved them both to sell me a new car over a preowned but I never felt any pressure from either of them. It was evident that my being happy and comfortable was of the utmost concern to them.I will from here on out rely on Portland Volvo for all my Volvo needs. More
While I didn't buy a Volvo this time, I traded in my 11 year old S70 and all of my service was done at Portland Volvo. A few months ago I went into Portland Volvo to check out leasing prices. At the time, the cars that were available were out of my budget, and I ended up leaving empty-handed. However, when things changed, I remembered how welcome Ralph made me feel the first time I went in, and so I went back. I am not the easiest customer to deal with.. I have four kids and very little time for small talk. Ralph moved at my pace and rolled with the punches with a smile on his face, (even when I had to nurse the baby in the waiting room..not always the most comfortable for other people, esp. men!). He made me completely at ease, as did the the Sales Manager. I ended up leaving with a beautiful used Volvo ,(that I can put all my kids in!), equipped with new brakes the whole way round! I love my car and I love the way that I didn't feel judged for not having a lot of cash to spend when I came in. Thanks a million Ralph! More
We had visited a few dealerships when looking for our XC90. We found what we were looking for on the Portland Volvo website and it prompted us to make an appt to visit them. We were greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful staff and felt comfortable immediately. The quality of the vehicle was superb, the facility was immaculate, the staff was so friendly - every single person said hello or picked up conversation with us. And, because we have young children, the fact that there is a room that is equipped with toys, juice boxes, etc. was so helpful. And everyone was so willing to assist us with them - in keeping them occupied, so that we could spend the appopriate amount of time looking at the vehicle etc. The girl Kate at the front desk spent a ton of time playng with our daughter. And Kate, our salesperson, was so nice and patient and helpful. We were thrilled. We had such a great experience. I would highly recommend this dealership and Kate MacDiarmid! More
I would highly recommend this dealership to any one who might be interested to purchasing either a new or used Volvo. The professionalism, attention to detail and making you feel as those they really wante might be interested to purchasing either a new or used Volvo. We had dealt with them on a limited basis before and where impressed then, which is why we made our trip to Portland Maine this time, a 330 mile round trip, to deal with this dealership.
