Confusion What follows is my opinion on a recent visit to Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City: I have been going to Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City since late 20 What follows is my opinion on a recent visit to Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City: I have been going to Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City since late 2008. They are pretty good at what they do, and I have had no real major problems. However, I went to them a week ago, and that is when I had a bit of a problem with some pricing and misstatements about their service. First, it was a little difficult that they all of sudden have new sales representatives who have less than a year of experience at the dealership--I am so use to working with Ron Dorland, but I guess he left... At any rate, I was simply misinformed by one of the sales representatives that I would be getting OEM Hyundai automatic transmission fluid flush, and that the competitors do not use this transmission fluid at all. Also, she told me that it would be better to use OEM, and that it is not good to use other transmission fluids that are compatible with most vehicles... So I took my vehicle to Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City to have the work done. When I saw that my vehicle was done, I could not find the sales representative anywhere. I asked around, and nobody knew where she was. I had to wait about 15 minutes for her to show back up. When she did, she processed my paperwork, and then tried to have me pay additional costs for shop supplies. I declined as that was not the "out the door" price we agreed upon. I also noticed that she failed to work with a sense of urgency as well as lacked any smile or delight to serve me. Lastly, she failed to issue me a free car wash coupon which was indicated on the invoice. When I got home, I realized that they had used brand name transmission fluid. This is what I did not agree to have done, and I also was overcharged as one of their competitors do the same exact service for much cheaper. I was able to take the issue up with the service manager, Jeremy Locher. He was able to work diligently and take it to heart. He was able to verify that the competitor had the same exact service for a lesser price. Mr. Locher was able to issue me a refund check and some free car washes. When I came in to pick up my check, I noticed that sale representative I had been working with from a few days ago was just standing around up stairs on her personal cell phone for some reason. She never even acknowledged me when I walked by... I would recommend Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City on the grounds that the management ironed out some creases in their sales department. They must make sure that everyone knows their products and services well, and that they also know what their competitors offer as well! More
My daughter was in Colorado Springs and was involved in a collision. She had towing through Hyundai and the vehicle was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership, which was Phil Long. This was on 8/12. Our collision. She had towing through Hyundai and the vehicle was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership, which was Phil Long. This was on 8/12. Our insurance adjuster wrote up the estimate and the dealership had the check within a few days. The repairs were supposed to take 2 weeks. On the day we were scheduled to pick up the car, we were told they found additional damage and it was going to take another week. Today (9/13) we were again told that the car is still not ready. Now it is supposed to be ready sometime early NEXT week. We do not have insurance for rental, and now have a bill for car rental for over a month and still no car. We have finally resorted to calling the main office of Hyundai and they are supposedly going to help us out in contacting the dealership. Both the dealership and our insurance adjuster estimated that the repairs should take no more than 2 weeks. I have no idea about the quality of their work since we don't have the car back yet. All I know is that we have been getting the run around. Our adjuster told us that normally they would have had the car towed to one of their "preferred" repair centers, but that since this dealership had both a service department and body shop, they agreed to the dealership doing the repairs. The dealership assured us that they had all of the parts in stock before they started the job. So why have they had the car for FIVE WEEKS and the repairs are still not complete. More
Bought a Sonata on January 14th. After the sale, they applied their expensive sealant treatment. Shortly after that, the Pin Stripe that was under that great sealant began to chip away. During my first applied their expensive sealant treatment. Shortly after that, the Pin Stripe that was under that great sealant began to chip away. During my first service, I identified the problem to the service department but they referred me to sales. Because I clean my own vehicle with Turtle Wax Car Wash Soap, it was not my cleaning. I even had a discussion with their Pin Stripe guy about the soap I use. By the way, it was not his work and he guarantees his work. Well, contacted Phil Long Hyundai of Motor City and they related it was not there problem. Even though it was purchased with the Pin Stripping in place and I was told I had a “bumper to bumper” policy except the normal my fault stuff of course. Bottom line here is yet another reason to stay away from Phil Long. They do not mind the money you pay for your vehicle but after that, all sales are final. More
