After a long battle with Phil Long Hyundai, they finally did the right thing and bought the lemon they sold me back. As part of my agreement with Phil Long Hyundai I promised to take my previous posts do did the right thing and bought the lemon they sold me back. As part of my agreement with Phil Long Hyundai I promised to take my previous posts down, but let them know I would post another one What I am going to do is give you tips so you don't end up like me. A lot of dealerships are like Phil Long Hyundai but there are some that don't live off of struggling people These tips are meant to help you be more aware and armed so that hopefully 🤞you can end up with a deal that's good for you and not just good for the dealership. I am obviously not very smart so take these tips with a grain of salt. Ask yourself how to either use or improve these tips so that they can help you because YOU matter and your life IS worth fighting for. Knowledge is power. Don't give that power to a dealership. Tips... #1. When going to the dealership try to bring a strong minded person with you. Someone not attached to the car you want to buy. Dealerships have a way of emotionally and mentally wearing you down. It's a good thing to have someone not attached to the situation to talk sense to you if something seems wrong #2. Don't fall for the nice reviews or pretty words and smiles. Dealerships give some people incredible deals because that helps to bring in people, but if you look at the percentage of 'good' deals those reviews end up being just noise to confuse you. What's important is your objective and not what someone not attached to you says. Reviews help, but don't let those reviews numb your mind. Stick to the facts. #3. If trading in a car, make sure they give you your keys back as soon as possible. If you have your keys you are free to walk out at any time. #4. Follow those instincts. If you feel something is wrong then thank them for their time and leave. Remember your strength. Don't back down if your gutt says something is wrong #5. Ask for the VIN number and mileage of the car they want to sell you. Go to Carfax to find out the true value of the car. A dealership can mark up a car up to 150% above market value and the bank will appraise it for a high amount. Everything will look good on paper but you might end up with interest on a car that has a lot of negative equity #6. You will NEVER get market value on a car because the dealership has to make money. Work on a number that feels fair to everyone. Know how to negotiate #7. On your test drive, go to Meineke or Firestone for a full evaluation/report of the car. NOTE: A lot of the cars a dealership has on their lot, are bought at auction. Cars can also be sitting on a lot for a very long time before being sold or even driven. Think of it like a roulette wheel.....you never know if you will hit the jackpot.....or lose everything. #8. DO NOT allow them to just show you a small number because that is just the monthly payment. Ask them the following things. #8a - How much interest is in the loan? #8b - What is the REAL and FULL price that you are paying for the car (this is where negotiation comes in - be prepared to walk out)? #8c - Is this price for a lease or ownership? #9. Do research before accepting the extended warranty fees. They are basically expensive and pretty much useless fees that you can never get your full money back on because of the fees they charge (two are non refundable). *READ what they cover. A lot of times your insurance company, AAA, etc will have cheaper and much better coverage. For me, I think these fees are just another way for a dealership to hide extra money in their pockets because a lot of people that buy them will never use them. #10. I caution you about the identity theft or roadside assistance. AAA, LifeLock, Experian, etc might be better and cheaper to buy. I wish you all the best Cheers 🍻 More
