I wanted to wait until I could get my thoughts in order on my experience with the purchase of my 2022 PHEV Sorento through Performance KIA. In June, I was calling around dealerships trying to find a PHEV on my experience with the purchase of my 2022 PHEV Sorento through Performance KIA. In June, I was calling around dealerships trying to find a PHEV Sorento. Because they were in short supply I was reaching out to dealerships located hours away from my home in NJ. I called Performance Kia, which is about 4 hours away from home. A salesman named Brian (who has since been fired I was told), picked up the phone and told me they had just received a PHEV Sorento and was on the lot. A huge regret of mine was letting him know I really wanted the car and was willing to travel far to get one. When I arrived at the dealership, I saw the MSRP sticker and then next to it a piece of paper, with a quickly written mark up quote of 10k over MSRP. I was ready to leave when they quoted me a decent price for my trade in. That was their excuse - "We are paying you so much for your car, we have to mark up ours". Well, then a huge mistake with this dealership is trading in your car with them. My biggest regret was ever agreeing to pay over MSRP. After purchasing this car and doing a little research you will find dealerships that aren't practicing these price gauging tactics. Online I'm finding people who paid thousands less for the next trim level UP. I was teamed up with a terrible salesman, like I said who was fired after my transaction. He promised me weather mats and after much back and forth a decent guy, a manager named Franco stepped in and finally got them to me two months later. I like to refer to them as my 7k dollar weather mats. I don't know what to say here. They knew they had a fish with me, walking in with excitement and so far away from home, but after seeing how much I over paid my biggest regret was trusting this dealership. The equity in my car is shot because I paid so much money for a basic level car which was the SX (Prestiges go for less than what I paid). You could read this and say it's my fault for going through with this deal and you are probably right, but in the end you can't trust people who take advantage of the customer like this. They also couldn't transfer two free oil changes promised with this vehicle to another service dept closer to home, which I understand, but was disappointed with. Well, Performance Kia, you got your extra money over MSRP, made a little bit more with my trade in and this bad review. I hope it was worth it. More
