Something Shady in the Neighborhood - Some of us,, when we go into a car dealer, do not want to be there. No one likes to have their financial life scrutinized and questioned. Some of us a Some of us,, when we go into a car dealer, do not want to be there. No one likes to have their financial life scrutinized and questioned. Some of us are forced to go to a dealer because life throws a curve and the want of a new car becomes a need. Life without a car is no life or income at all. Sometimes life is hard, and now happens to be one of those times for this buyer. I am a trusting kind of person and I like to think I give that trust because people deserve that trust as a "be a good human" general principle. At least until that trust is some how misused and manipulated. So I honestly and openly disclosed the curve xxxxx that life had been throwing me. Not in any hope of gaining some sympathy, but only in the course of interacting as a human with another human. Since it was a curve ball that forced me to seek a new car. I walked into the dealership fully expecting the leave without a car, because I did not expect a bank to reach out a hand in faith. I knew walking in exactly how much I could afford, and exactly how much that loan payment would be a month. It's not hard to find out this kind of information. I did like working with Saul and I enjoyed the conversation, as well as his tenacity at getting me to finally come down and take a look at some cars. I appreciate the work he did and his genuine desire to help me get into a car. I had researched the cars and the car prices. Easily done with the clicks of a mouse.I was fully prepared to buy a car, and I certainly was not going to walk out of there feeling like I bought something I didn't really want. Finally we settled on a car to test drive, I was told that I would be able to get the same exact car except in the color I wanted for the same price. In fact, I was told that the car in the color I wanted would be lowered priced because of rebates and incentives. I was told that these rebates and incentives work work in helping to convince the bank to extend a loan to me. Which was the reason I was up sold from purchasing a used vehicle to a new vehicle. After the test drive, we went into the office to begin the process of credit checking and negotiating. Which then turned into agreeing to trade in a car and buy a second car. My wife was happy that getting a car for herself would actually increase the odds of getting the loan, as we were told by Saul. I thought it might be a long shot, but Saul was confident it could be done. I was told that it would look good to the banks to offer the trade-in. So we followed his suggestion After the credit report grilling Saul walked away and returned a few minutes later. "GOOD NEWS WE WERE APPROVED" - But not for the cars we were told we could get. In fact during this time, Saul would make mention of certain things done to the cars, like paint prep and nitro added to tires, and some kine of security installation that the dealer did because of the location of the dealership. Stuff I didn't really want, but we weren't in negotiations, or at least no paperwork had been presented to me. At one point Saul said that the car we test drove was a higher priced car than the price that was said out in the parking lot. Some how the price had gone up, though that price was never stated. The car that was offered was no where near the car we had discussed, and honestly did not have certain items that we had discussed were necessity for our specific use of the car. The car had gone up in price, and in fact the car had less features than the car we test drove and were told was a different price then originally quoted out on the lot. During this time Saul had said that he didn't think the vehicle came in a specific color. Which was the color I wanted. So I went out to the Nissan website and looked it up and I pointed out to Saul that it did come in that color. At which point I noticed the website had the car I wanted and the specific Trim/Package I wanted. I looked at the MSRP and noticed that it was a lot less then the the shell of a car that they were trying to sell me. When questioned Saul said well that's just the national number it doesn't mean anything. That is when the shadiness became evident. I have no problem paying a fair price for a vehicle, I fully expected that part of this process would include Saul getting a part of that deal. But Isn't that the first rule of car buying? Never pay MSRP!! Well that's what the car buyer gurus say, and who am I to argue. It certainly does not say to pay 3k more than MSRP. We endured 2 rounds of we have to have this feature and we'll have to pay extra for it when I realized it was a losing battle. They simply did not want to sell me a car, unless they got every penny they could get out of me. It wasn't about the bank approving me and giving me a loan to buy a car. Nor was it about me getting to drive away knowing my livelihood was back on track. It was about getting as much out of me, and giving me as little as possible. It was quite a laughable moment when we were told that they were not making any money and that they were just moving inventory. An outright lie. - As my grandmother would say, "I'm no spring chicken, but do you think I was born yesterday"? Honesty truly is the best policy and I would have rather been told right up front, we can only sell you this car at this price and we won't be able to sell you the ca that your looking at and test driving. I wasted nearly 4 hours and in the end I left frustrated and jerked around. I won't ever darken those doors again. Which does include the other 4 or 5 dealerships connected with the Pedder name.. I would not suggest that any one work with this company, they are not honest and transparent with their business dealings and they will try to take advantage of you if they can. There was never a point in time when any offer of a vehicle was made and the list of deliverable's presented to fully discuss and close the deal. Saul told us that he would bring the written deal when he returned, but would return with a counter offer, requesting more money and continued denial of requested features. In essence completely ignoring our request to see the offer on paper. The Choice is Yours - More
