Stay away unless you like high estimates and hidden costs! I came here 2/21/20 for a check engine light as well as a battery replacement (discharge warning on the screen) for my 2008 M3. I wanted to start wit I came here 2/21/20 for a check engine light as well as a battery replacement (discharge warning on the screen) for my 2008 M3. I wanted to start with the battery first to see if that would clear the CEL. Up to this point, I have been servicing my car at Patrick BMW since 2015, and this was the first time I had a check engine light. Prior services were nothing but oil changes, brake service, i.e. normal maintenance. I had an appointment for 1:45pm, and was waiting by my car in the service bay until 2:05pm while multiple porters kept on asking if I need help. Yes, I do, okay, we'll find someone for you. They kept on telling me that I was assigned Matt, but they could not find him anywhere. Eventually, Fred Kempke helped me out and gave me an estimate of $595 for the battery since it was a high performance battery that my car required, okay cost of ownership. After researching the price online while in the lounge, I found from the BMW USA website they were offering a promotion on the M3 battery for $430 for parts and labor, which Patrick BMW was a participating dealer. When I showed this to Fred back at his desk, he said the $430 was just for the battery. I corrected him and showed the BMW USA website says parts and labor. Then he said the $595 was with tax. So I asked him, you are charging me $165 of taxes? I know we are in Schaumburg, but 39% tax? He then looked at his computer screen and I saw my battery was coming up as $263 on the invoice. So he just said, okay I will honor the $430 all in. $165 for installing and coding a battery seemed high to me (after seeing what the battery was going for), but I just wanted to get it done and get out. Now I understand a dealership needs to make money, but in any other store you go into, the consumer doesn't need to research whether something is on sale or not, we trust we are given the lowest price set by a current promotion. If I go to Foot Locker, and they tell me the shoes I want are $99.99, I shouldn't have to go on footlocker.com and verify the current sales price, thats just plain dishonesty. After replacing the battery, the CEL still remained. Fred said it was $196 to diagnose the code, but at that point, I had zero trust in Fred and Patrick BMW they would give me any sort of fair price on the eventual repair. I told him to stop, and that I wanted my car. He said okay and had the paperwork written up for the battery replacement. When looking at the paperwork at the cashier, I noted a $33 line item for shop charges. I inquired about this, and the cashier told me it was for fluid disposal. So I asked what fluid disposal was necessary for a battery change? She went to go get Fred, and came out 5 minutes later saying that charge will be taken off the invoice. Fred had to send his cashier to tell me that? He couldn't look me in the eye and tell me, yes, I wanted an extra $30 from you after you called me out on my shady practices? Watch out for Patrick BMW and Fred Kempke, I am not sure if this is a Fred issue or a Patrick BMW service wide issue. I'll go to Elmhurst BMW from now on, since there is zero trust with Patrick BMW. To close the loop - another shop was able to diagnose the error codes, and they were related to cold start, which I was told it might be a ghost or temporary code because of the weather. The codes were cleared, and I have been driving around for 3 days and the CEL has not come back, which the shop said they can start troubleshooting in the event it does come back. If it was a temporary error, do you think Fred would have told me so? I'm glad I did not stick around to find out. More

I bought a 2017 BMW Alpina B7 from Patrick bmw, the day I found the car online talked to a salesman that told me the car was in perfect almost new condition. I drove 5 hours from Detroit mi with my family when we made it there we were welcomed by the salesman that told me the car had never been painted or been in any accident and only had touched up spots, and when I asked if the car was BMW certified I was told few times that it was, I recently found out that the car had been painted in the front and the clear coat came off in few spots on its first carwash, called the salesman again and told me that he never said the car was BMW certified, but thank god I had the whole process recorded for legal purposes because I know what dealers say and do just to sell a car, all I was asking for before buying this car was honestly from the dealer, now I have to come out of pocket to get the front bumper repainted and the cost is almost $1200 because it’s a Ferrari red color, it wouldn’t have been a big deal if I was told the truth but I wasn’t. They convinced me that if I didn’t buy an extended warranty that same day of buying the car I would never be able to buy the warranty anywhere else after and just found out that it was a lie. I paid cash for that car expecting it to be what they said it is but it’s not. More
