As they say, "to sit in the lap of luxury, pay for it". Problem is I'm an informed cheapskate My wife and I have always been impressed with Lexus quality and have owned Lexus for almost 30 years. Over time, Lexus has devolved into any other overpriced, overhyped name like Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. You overpay for a brand to impress your friends and family on social media. I don't mind paying for quality up front so I don't have to fork over a few grand for repairs later. Not the case here. $1200 to replace a radiator. Another $1200 to replace the water pump. Dafuq. I have the money. It was just the hard sell that sucked. Charles Offenbacher, Lexus Service Adviser, is a master purveyor of fear. Yes, I have coolant leaks, but telling me that my engine will fail soon if I don't make the repairs immediately was a nice little play to jack-up your commission, Charles. And when I refused, telling me that the tech saw the temp gage go hot after driving it around the block was an outright lie (because when I drove it for half an hour after, it was fine). Telling me that you won't put my car in the free car wash because you don't want my engine to fail while it was in there, nailed that xx coffin shut for me, Charles. Buddy, I came in and paid $372 for an oil change and you don't want to wash my car?! Based on a lie?! To get me to fork over $2200?! For a service that you would normally give to all other service customers for free?! Wow. I don't have more money than sense. I'm too old and tired to get mind-screwed like this. I thought it would have been nice to get back in the Lexus quality fold, but I'm taking my car back to my trusty neighborhood repair shop. Luxury, my xxx. More
