I had decided to buy a Hyundai Sonata based on the reviews from Consumer Reports and Edmunds.com and test driving several other models. I then signed up for Consumer Reports' "Build & Buy" service to reviews from Consumer Reports and Edmunds.com and test driving several other models. I then signed up for Consumer Reports' "Build & Buy" service to get the lowest and most competitive price quotes from up to three dealers in my area. Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie beat the other two dealerships by $250 and $550. When I went to test drive the Hyundai Sonata I had chosen at the Bowie dealership, I was not pressured to buy. Their Sales Consultant Chris Brown was polite, helpful, and very attentive. The exact car I wanted was ready to test drive, and Chris did not try to get me to test drive a more expensive trim model. Once I had decided to purchase the car, I asked them for their best price (I had not told them about my research on Consumer Reports). Surprisingly they offered a price that beat the "Build & Buy" price by roughly $850 because of the December sale they were having on Sonatas. I doubt I could have found a lower price in the DC area. When I bought the car, the dealership manager offered me several different extended warranties. I did not want any of these, and when I refused, there was no further discussion and no sales pressure. The final price of my car to drive it off the lot, including all taxes and charges, was $21,230. I believe I got a great price and excellent customer service. More
I started at the Waldorf Dealer and they were ok but not that impressed, kind of pushy. My Dad had gone by Bowie on his way home from work to make sure that everything that they had told me in Waldorf was that impressed, kind of pushy. Everyone there was great offering me something to drink when I came in, sat down and talked to me about what I was looking for and then went out and looked at all the different Sonata models that were on the lot (In the RAIN, no complaints that it was raining even offered me his umbrella) and showed me the differences between each one. After I found the one that I liked we took it for a drive Lennox showed me all the options on the car and how everything worked and I fell in Love. This was my first NEW car and I am all smiles. Absolutely Love Hyundai of Bowie!!! More
The best customer service I've ever experienced! They were informative, accomodating and friendly. I couldn't ask for more in a dealership. I didn't feel like I was being "sold" on a vehicle. First of all, my experience purchasing my 2011 Elantra Limited was fantastic at this dealer. Kevin Handy was extremely helpful, friendly, courteous, and I would buy another car from him. In addition, about a week ago, I was driving my parents to Baltimore for a doctor visit at Univ of Maryland Hospital. On the way we had a flat tire, had it "repaired", and then proceeded to have a blow out with the same tire. Fortunately, when the blow out occurred, I was very close to this Hyundai dealer. I pulled into their lot with my Dad's 1992 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon with a busted up tire. Several of the employees came out, helped me get my parents into the customer service lounge where it was cool. The service manager then tried to locate a tire to fit the car but with no luck that afternoon. They could get it the next day. They then arranged for a rental car for us. The next day they called, had the tires (my Dad purchased two matching 225X75 15's), and the tires had been mounted. Dad and I drove back to Bowie to get his car and they even got the rental car back to the car rental company. How many businesses would go out of their way to that extent to help someone? Probably not many but the good people at Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie certainly did. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and help that day. More
Do not make the mistake of seeking a quote from the dealer unless you want to be harassed by them on a daily basis. While I was very clear what car I was looking for, John G simply told me that they did not have it and tried to get me to come in to look at other cars. Whereas another dealer told me they could get the car, that thought apparently never crossed John's mind. Instead, even after I responded to him telling him that I had found the car I was looking for and that I was only interested in hearing from him again if he also had it (and for a specific price), he replied that I should be skeptical of the other dealership and continued leaving me phone messages and e-mails daily trying to get me to come look at cars I'm not interested in. I'm not sure of whose business this will attract; certainly not mine. More
