I hope that this correspondence does not go unnoticed, as I feel that my experience with your dealership was far below average at best. My objective this past week was to purchase a graduation present that I feel that my experience with your dealership was far below average at best. My objective this past week was to purchase a graduation present that has taken me five years to earn. I believe that I have made a solid decision in buying this truck, I like it; however, my personal experience with your team was not so satisfactory. I will begin by saying that Darryl was a standup guy and was always generous when we met. Darryl was upfront about what to expect and helped me the first two days that I was searching. We talked, and he listened to my needs and what it was that I was truly looking for. Unfortunately, somewhere in the process, Darryl was set aside and replaced with Dave, whom I did not have the same experience. Dave was pushy, and gave me ultimatums instead of options. I did not feel valued in any interaction with him. In fact, when I was transitioned to Dave, it became a competition to see how much money I would settle in paying, instead of explaining what it was that I was doing. It was tug-of-war and I felt that he wasn’t listening. I made it clear from the beginning that I had financing already and told Dave numerous times that I had zero interest in any other lender. I was happy with my lender. However, it seemed Dave did not like my lender or my explanations. Dave wanted what Dave wanted and I felt like a transaction, not a customer. After a number was reached, Dave continued to pressure me to not allow my husband to be on the lending, as my husband’s credit was poor. Dave mentioned a few times to “just get him off and we can find you a better financing deal.” I had to say “no” several times, more times than I should have, until Dave got the point. Again, I also made it clear to Dave that I already had a lender, but unfortunately, due to his inability to accept this, took it upon himself to send my credit to another local lender, despite me specifically telling him no. After Geoff took care of me with my lender one evening, I thought everything was taken care of until the next morning when I arrived with my husband to have him sign the paperwork. Geoff immediately surprised me with the fact that “they” had found me a better deal because my original lender decided to raise my rates after I thought it was secured. I told Geoff that I was not considering any other lender and that I made it clear from the beginning. Geoff shrugged his shoulders and stated that it had already been done. Geoff continued to explain the new lender’s financing offer. Admittedly, the offer was lower in interest and a lower payment, and Geoff explained that my original lender had not approved the original offer. Geoff made it clear that Dave had taken upon himself to go fetch other offers, despite my wishes and despite me saying no. I do not feel that Geoff was to blame because he made it clear to me that someone else had done this. Also, I continued to get hard inquiries the day after I finalized the sale with their lender, with banks ranging across multiple states (again, which shows that "they" did not listen or value what I was telling them). I understand there is money to be made and understand business, but the bottom line should be about customer service, listening and ethics, and not doing what you want behind the customer’s back. In addition, I had also made inquiries early in the process about why the previous owner had traded in the truck and was provided certain answers by Dave. However, I got in contact with the previous owner who had told me a completely different story as to why he traded in the truck. I find it interesting that there was a long line of ethical issues with Dave during this process, all of which was based on dishonesty and serving Dave’s interests instead of mine. I will also add that after I had signed the second financial agreement with the new lender, both of our credit reports continued to get inquiries into the next day, with banking institutions all the way to Alaska. This is concerning, because again, I made it clear to Dave that I did not want to consider any other lender. The day I came to pick up the truck, I was advised to come in, meet with Geoff, sign, and then leave with the truck. However, this again, was not what was explained to me. After signing with Geoff, I was left in the front of the dealership and stood there for a while before I saw Dave and asked him where to pick up the truck. Dave told me “I made no guarantees that it would be ready right now, it should be ready around 5-6pm.” Dave simply left it at that and walked away. In that moment, I knew I made a mistake trusting him to treat me as a valued guest. I feel that every horror story related to “car salesmen” came true during those two days, as I feel that I have been taken advantage of by one of your staff. Again, while I am happy with the truck itself, I am wholeheartedly disappointed in my first experience with your dealership because I feel that ethics is not something that is a priority. More
