I bought a 2017 Hyundai Tucson for my daughter from NJ State Auto Used Cars in Jersey City. The car was listed at $18,000. We trusted them. Shortly after we drove it off the lot, the car broke down. We More

We respectfully disagree with the claims made in this review. This vehicle was purchased over a year ago on an as-is basis, which was fully disclosed and acknowledged at the time of sale. Despite that, when concerns were later raised, we made multiple attempts to assist and repeatedly offered to inspect the vehicle at our facility. Unfortunately, the customer has declined to bring the vehicle in for inspection while continuing to publicly claim that no assistance has been offered. It is impossible for any dealership to diagnose, verify, or repair a vehicle that is not made available for evaluation. We also note that several employees named in this review had no involvement in the original transaction or subsequent communications regarding this matter. Our records contain extensive communication regarding our efforts to address these concerns. Our offer remains the same today as it has throughout this process: bring the vehicle in so it can be properly inspected and evaluated. We remain committed to treating all customers fairly and allowing the documented facts to speak for themselves.

Your response is full of lies, and I have the documentation to prove it. First, the "as-is" lie. You claim this vehicle was sold "as-is." That is false. You told us the car came with a dealer warranty – you even gave us paperwork showing coverage. And more importantly, you told us to bring the car back when it broke down and promised to fix it. A dealer does not ask a customer to return an "as-is" car for repairs. They tell you "as-is" means "you're on your own." But that is not what happened here. Under New Jersey law, a dealer must provide a written warranty on used cars under 100,000 miles. The warranty period is based on mileage. You cannot simply "sell a car as-is" and walk away – the "Used Car Lemon Law" requires certain protections. The fact that you told us to bring the car back, kept it for a week, and claimed to have replaced the engine proves this was a warranty repair, not an "as-is" sale. Second, the facts. The car was purchased on December 20, 2025 – not "over a year ago." I have the paperwork. If you are already misrepresenting the timeline, it tells me everything I need to know about your honesty. Third, the engine lie. When the car broke down, you told us to bring it back. We did. You kept the car for a week. When we picked it up, you told us you had installed a brand new engine. We trusted you. An independent mechanic has since confirmed the engine was never replaced – a violation of New Jersey consumer protection law, which prohibits dealers from misrepresenting the mechanical condition of a used vehicle. You are not just wrong. You are in violation of the law. Fourth, the inspection lie. You say we refused to bring the car in. That is also false. We told you the car is dangerous to drive – it should not be on the highway. We asked you to tow it to your facility. You never responded. You never offered to arrange a tow. You never offered to cover the cost. You just kept saying "bring it in" knowing full well that my daughter would have to risk her life to get it there. New Jersey law makes it an unlawful practice to fail to disclose material defects known to the dealer. You knew the car was unsafe. Your response proves you knew. You simply chose not to act. Fifth, the court. You should have already received the small claims paperwork. That is just the beginning. The Special Civil Part filing is coming next. That means this is moving beyond small claims. We are escalating this to a higher court where the damages will be much more significant. Under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, violations can result in treble damages, attorney fees, and costs for the injured party. Your fraud is documented. Your lies are documented. And New Jersey law is clear: auto fraud is a serious offense that courts are increasingly willing to punish. We are not going away. We are prepared to let a judge decide who is telling the truth. And we are prepared to hold you accountable for every single violation. To anyone reading this: This dealership sold my daughter a car for $18,000. It broke down. They told us they fixed it. They lied. They are now hiding behind "as-is" despite having asked us to bring the car back and promised to repair it. They had a chance to do the right thing. They chose not to. They chose fraud. I am not letting this go, I'm paying a lot of money for nothing!. Small claims is just the start. The Special Civil Part is coming next. See you in court.

We disagree with the statements made in this review. We have attempted to work with you regarding your concerns and have repeatedly advised that the vehicle must be available for inspection before any diagnosis or repair can be performed. We cannot determine the cause of a problem or discuss possible repairs without first seeing the vehicle. Since you have stated that legal action has been filed and additional litigation is being pursued, we believe it is best to allow the matter to proceed through the appropriate legal channels rather than debate it publicly. All relevant documentation, communications, and records will be provided through that process. We will continue to handle this matter professionally and respectfully.

WOW! Ya'll say you want to handle this "professionally and respectfully." That is rich coming from a dealership that lied about putting a new engine in my daughter's car. You say you tried to work with us. You told us to bring the car back when it broke down. We did and Ya'll told us you fixed it. You did not. You lied. You say you need to inspect the car to diagnose the problem. We told you the car is dangerous to drive. We asked you to tow it. You ignored us. You never offered to arrange a tow. You never offered to cover the cost. You just kept saying "bring it in" knowing my daughter would have to risk her life to get it there. That is not professional. That is negligence. You say you want to let the legal channels handle this and I agree. Social media is next. I have access to groups and pages with over 100,000 followers. I will share this story with every single one of them. I will warn every person I can reach about what you did to me and my daughter. I will do my best to help any poor soul from going through what we have been through. We can handle this professionally in court, but it will be handled publicly online as well! Ya'll will be held accountable.
