The letter below I sent to my insurance company that has recommended this dealership: I am writing to you to express my concern with the way Mitchell Auto Body shop handling the repairs of my car. I bro recommended this dealership: I am writing to you to express my concern with the way Mitchell Auto Body shop handling the repairs of my car. I brought the car to Mitchell Auto Body for the repairs on Thursday, December 9th and was told that it would be ready in three or four days. I contacted the shop on the day five asking for an update and was told that the parts had been ordered, but have not yet arrived. In ten days, I was told they received a wrong part and had to do something with it to be fitted, then the grill had to be replaced and something else… Fast-forward, twenty days later, on December 29th, I was invited to pick up the car as it was finally fixed. I left earlier from work and went to the shop with my wife to pick up the car. The car was outside and after paying the bill I got into the car and started driving. After about few hundred yards, my wife alerted me that there was a piece of equipment between front and rear sits that I have not noticed before. I looked and it was a battery charger forgotten by someone in my car. I turned around and brought the equipment back to the shop. The staff praised me for being honest. I got back into the car and after driving for 3-5 minutes, noticed that my dashboard gauges are set to the high heat and I did not hear the vent running. Air-conditioning was not working as well. I brought the car back and told that I was not accepting it until it is fixed. The car when I brought it to the shop was in drivable condition and the heat and a/c were perfectly working. I was told to leave the car in the shop again until they can attempt to repair it and/or possibly take to Mercedes dealership for evaluation/repairs. There are two things which make my confidence level in the shop to decline. I had a religious icon attached to my central dashboard – it was detached from the dashboard and laying on the driver’s side floor mat. I was told that the car was washed and during the cleaning the icon fell off that is a possibility, but it is also possible that the dashboard was worked on as it takes an effort to remove the icon attached by Velcro. Also, the tires of the car were covered in mud and I asked where it had been driven (as I washed the car before bringing it to the shop) and I was told the car was taken through the car wash in Avon. I was also asked whether the tires need to be cleaned again... But it is not the point – the point is I question where they found so much mud at the car wash or on the road driving from Simsbury to Avon? I do not know what to believe. Was it taken for a joy ride? I hope not. Frankly, it should embarrassing to return the car to a customer in the condition it was, especially since the repairs are guaranteed and encouraged by my insurance at this shop: aka forgotten equipment, mud on tires, broken heat, a/c , vent… I have not had a chance to check the bumper… Otherwise, Michelle and Pete are very nice people to talk to – they are the only ones I have been in communication with. As I mentioned, I am concerned about the quality/reliability of repairs and the way my car has been handled. I do not know what it takes to fix the heating problem ( whether it is a small nuance or a big deal), but I would be most appreciative for your prompt attention to this matter. Hopefully, it is not going to take another month… PS: it is January 18th today and I have not seen my car yet. All I needed was to repair the bumper. Unfortunately, I could not recommend this dealership to anyone who expect a timely, reliable service ... More
