No understanding of customer service I was having a problem with the audio system in my 2016 4runner (still under warranty) and brought my truck to Middletown Toyota. I take extremely goo I was having a problem with the audio system in my 2016 4runner (still under warranty) and brought my truck to Middletown Toyota. I take extremely good care of my vehicle and I am very good with electronics so I know when something is wrong. When their electronics expert first looked at my vehical, he acknowledged that it didn't sound right and that something was in fact wrong. He was not sure what was causing the problem so he said he wanted to order a new radio. The service manager then told the service writer that they could not order a radio until they did a full diagnostics and needed the truck for a day. I came back another day and left the truck (they did not offer me a loaner). The service writer called me later in the day and said that they were going to order a new radio and to come pick up my truck. I picked up the truck and he said they would call when the radio came in. Here is where it starts getting frustrating......On Thursday later that week a different service writer calls me and tells me that my radio had come in and to come in Friday morning and they would put it in. I went it Friday morning and they looked surprised that I was there and said the guy who does the radios was not there and was at a meeting. I explained that I was told to come down and they said that the guy who told me to come down messed up. They set me up with another appt the following Tuesday (I work full time and I am wasting gas with all the back and forth). I came back Tuesday and they put in the new radio. After the radio was installed, the service writer came and told me that they put in the new radio but it did not fix the problem. He said that they needed to keep the truck again and have a specialist look at it. I asked if I could have a loaner car and he said that i would have to pay for it (great service toyota). I had my wife come pick me up with our kids and i went another day with no car. Around 5pm that day, the service writer called me and told me that they talked to an engineer on the phone and that the audio problem was normal and there was no problem. That is absolutely not true. I know my vehical and there is a problem. I could tell that they just didn't want to deal with it anymore because it was under warranty and they dont get paid for the labor. Up until then they had been acknowledging that there was a problem. So anyway, I went to pick up my truck knowing that I was going to just take it somewhere else. I always inspect my vehical when I pick it up and I noticed the hazard button on the dashboard looked crooked. I tested it and it didn't work. I went back in and told the service writer. They brought the truck back in to fix it and said they forgot to plug it in. I got back in my truck again and started driving and heard something rolling around inside the center console under the shifter. A tech was still in the parking lot and he got in my truck and heard it too. He said they would have to take it apart again but there was nobody there qualified to do it. I parked and went back to the service writer. He said he would get the truck back in. I pointed out that the tech told me nobody was qualified and he said that he did have someone who could do it. He went out and talked to the tech and then changed his story and said they could try to do it but may need it overnight again. I asked if the guy who would be going it was qualified and he said no. I said that I didn't want anyone not qualified working on it. I pointed out that now I would have to come back again and my truck still wasn't fixed, and the truck was worse off than before I brought it to them. He still couldn't give me a loaner car after all this. I am a manager for a big company that puts a huge focus on customer service and I would never treat a customer like this. I took my truck to a dealership that provides much better service. More
