Deceitful sales staff. Disrespectful to customer. There is a culture of arrogance and aloofness in the Middletown Toyota sales organization; deceptive practices, last-minute surprises and intimidation by legal staff. This most recent incident actually dates back to the original sale to me of a certified used vehicle, which was a Prius, On the date of sale, the Middletown Toyota sales organization kept me waiting for 3 hours to complete their "process" into the late afternoon. In the final minutes of negotiation, I was Informed that there was “only 1 key FOB” with the car. I was told I could buy a 2nd one later. I said “no, that’s a deal breaker”, and got up… the salesman then produced a second key. I should have known better at that point, but I remained, signed the initial paperwork, and then the waiting began. I had asked for access to repair history of the used vehicle that had been sold from and serviced exclusively by Middletown Toyota. My request was refused. At the last minute, (before I could take possession) I was informed the vehicle had been in an accident. I had to sign a form that released Toyota of any culpability for claims made by sales staff that were untrue. I was stuck without a car at that point, and went ahead with the sale, and have regretted this decision ever since. That was 2 years ago. The car required multiple and expensive repairs that was not covered by the "used" warranty. This last weekend, the engine failed on the highway, and I had the car towed back to Middletown Toyota. Again, I was in a compromised situation, but this time the service department "upsold" me on "recommended" repairs that were not directly a cause of the engine failure. To their credit, they found the shorted ignition wire (I assume this was a spark plug wire) and spliced in a new wire. This fixed the engine. They then replaced spark plugs (which was OK with me) then replaced mass air flow sensor (which I could have done) and components that I could have done myself. The "throttle body cleaning" was a spray can down the throat, and this was touted as a important tune-up procedure. These were not presented as options but as a package requirement with individual pricing for each. The total estimate was $900. This was on a Monday late afternoon. I authorized the work for the following day. On Monday night, I went on line to check out details of the recommendation. Only the wire and the plugs were necessary. I called the service desk at 7:00 AM on Tuesday to report my findings and reject portions of the procedure. The lady who answered acknowledged my wishes and sent them to service department. At the end of the day I was told that the work had already been done, and was charged $850... for what was essentially a new spark plug wire and 4 plugs. Absurd, un-justifiable upselling, even with an overpriced mass air flow sensor. I am considering whether or not to report my whole experience to the press. More

There was one lug nut missing on each wheel. When I questioned it and was told to buy them. I was told that they must have had to cut the locking lugs off and forgot to replace. Vehicle only had one key. I had to remind salesman multiple times that I needed a second key. It was finally mailed to me. Was promised vehicle on Monday but it wasn’t ready until Tuesday and on Thursday when I was able to pick up it still wasn’t registered. More
Very, very bad experience I took my 2014 Prius for a diagnostic for a rubbing sound coming from the wheel. It ended up being a wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I have t I took my 2014 Prius for a diagnostic for a rubbing sound coming from the wheel. It ended up being a wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I have the platinum VSA which I got when I bpught the car at Prestige Toyota in Kingston NY. Apparently when your service ppl check if the customer has warranty coverage, they only check their local database rather than checking the national Toyota database, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life, since it makes the assumption that anyone who comes into any Toyota service center must have bought the car at that particular Toyota location, which anyone with an ounce of business sense understands is very frequently not always going to be the case. So once they figure out what I needed the service guy at the desk out to the waiting room with a bill for $800 in his hand. And he goes "do you have any warranties that Im not aware of?" I don't know, what warranties are you aware of? Why is it the customer's responsibility to tell the Toyota service staff that they might want to try checking in the Toyota database to see if I have a Toyota warranty on my Toyota that I've brought into their Toyota service center. Morons. You guys do that xxxx so that little old Betty Sue who doesnt remember what warranty she bought will just take the bill you hand to her assuming shes not covered. Quit xxxxing around with people's money and do what your supposed to do. So ultimately I had to have this dumb conversation with the service guy where he eventually realized I had bought it somewhere else and he went back in and filed the claim and I was covered. Wasted a bunch of both of our times in the process of course. This is unacceptable. The onus is not on the client to tell Toyota what their coverage is. Its your responsibility to know. On top of that the guy who checked me in and tool my keys was a complete rude xxxxxxx who just blurted demands at me like a caveman. Hes lucky I was in a good mood, next time he talks to me like that I'll give him a bad review. The week before this appointment, Middletown Toyota had also screwed up by accidentally booking me for a daignostic when there wasnt even going to be a tech there. Its too bad too because Ive had many good experiences at Middletown Toyota but not that day. More

I had purchased parts from Middletown Toyota in the past and was always treated fairly,so we decided to see what they could do on a new Rav4. My wife and I went back and forth with Bob on different colors and packages. We were never pressured and between Bob and Nick from financing,we came up with the perfect vehicle. There were glitches along the way but in the end we worked together and made the sale happen. The expertise didn't end at the signing,Ellen Brunsgarrd spent over an hour going through the entire car and explaining all the features. The entire staff assured us they would be there after the sale. we are looking forward to our first service and seeing all of them again. Thank You for being professional, Matt & Wendy More
Wouldn't work with me Purchased a 2018 Tundra with only 20k miles. One of the tires was about 75% worn and they would not work with me to replace the tire. I find it unacce Purchased a 2018 Tundra with only 20k miles. One of the tires was about 75% worn and they would not work with me to replace the tire. I find it unacceptable that such a new vehicle would have that much wear and it's a shame that for less than 200 dollars they were unable to make me a satisfied customer. More
