This was a SUPER experience for me! I leased a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe and am very pleased with this vehicle! Steve followed up with inital phone calls after my first visit, was NOT pushy or anything like some of the horror stories I have heard about "car salesmen" - Steve was NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL!!!!!!! And that was a very refreshing and positive encounter for both my son and I. And after I got my truck, Steve phoned to make sure I was completely satisfied with the vehicle (I am!!!) I also dealt with Travis in the credit department who also very patiently explained all paperwork to me and answered all my leasing/credit questions. Steve also introduced me to the service manager and set up my appointment for my first oil change. He was very efficient, paid a lot of attention to the details of all my questions - I was very impressed by this. I will recommend this dealership to anyone who wants to purchase or lease a vehicle. After both my father and cousin purchased a Hyundai from Herb Connolly Hyundai I decided to start my new car search there based on their experiences. Having never purchased a new car before, I was a little concerned about the clichéd high pressure salesmen however upon meeting Steve Sexton my concern disappeared. From start to finish Steve was amazing. Not only was he great to deal with, he understood my situation as well as my needs and did not pressure me or try to upsell something I didn’t want. I cannot say enough about Steve and the time he dedicated to me before and after the sale. From pairing my phone to Bluetooth to programming my XM favorites he was there for whatever I needed. I have to also mention Travis St. Peter who helped me find the best financing options. Not only was he also a pleasure to deal with but he also carefully explained all my options as well as answering the many questions I had. Because of both Steve and Travis, the entire experience was truly a pleasure. More
Buying the car and negotiating a fair price was easy and reasonable but then they came back with a monthly payment that was higher than it should have been based on the sales price and interest rate we were reasonable but then they came back with a monthly payment that was higher than it should have been based on the sales price and interest rate we were expecting. When we asked for details on how they came up with the numbers they suddenly changed it to match with the numbers we expected/calculated. Ultimately we decided that the price was fair so we bought the car, had we known what would happen on day two, it would have been different. The car was supposed to be ready to pick up on Monday afternoon, right before we arrived we got a call saying the salesperson had an emergency and wouldn't be there. I told them I need to pick it up that day (Monday). So we arrive (about 1 pm), and it is clear that no one cared. The attitude I got from everyone was basically we already have your money so there is no urgency. It took over 4 hours to get the car that should have been ready when I got there and it required us basically babysitting the process. First, there was a small issue with our insurance and we called and corrected that in the first ten minutes we were there. I should not have had to check back after an hour of sitting there (and then after two hours, and three) to make sure the car was being prepped, registered, etc. Then, people tried to tell us our insurance was still wrong two hours later. Why did everyone wait two hours to tell us this, but more importantly it was correct we even double-checked with our insurance they had already faxed the info. Then that was all set and the car still took another two hours to be ready. I can forgive it not being ready when I got there, we all have life emergencies, but the extreme lack of anyone ELSE actually trying to get it ready in a timely fashion means I will not encourage others to shop at herb connolly, but I will also recommend people specifically avoid this dealership. Please note that despite these issues we found our salesperson, Sean Barry, above average, but we can not recommend a dealership based on one person. From our experience we feel the rest of the staff was incompetent and disrespectful. More
