Lied about advertisement I found a car on Craigslist and my wife went to see the car and buy it if she liked it. The car was listed for $19,495. After she drove it they told I found a car on Craigslist and my wife went to see the car and buy it if she liked it. The car was listed for $19,495. After she drove it they told her it was $20,880. She didn’t buy it. I went there the next morning with a copy of the listing to find out what was going on. I met with Mr. Easton Porter, the used car sales manager and he informed me that it was a mistake Craigslist made and that they had taken the wrong information off their feed. It sounded plausible enough. He was vehement and told me since it was Craigslist mistake and not theirs they couldn’t be responsible for it. He further stated that if Craigslist kept on making mistakes like that Herb Connolly would have to stop using Craigslist, so I went ahead and purchased the car. I work with a lot of people and upon telling them what happened they all said it was the dealer’s mistake and that there is no feed to Craigslist. I went to speak to the GM and told him I was unhappy with the way I was treated there and what I was told about Craigslist. In fairness he was very nice. He informed me that they had hired a company to enter the information to Craigslist but that company became too expensive so they hired another company and it was their mistake. I was either lied to or misled by the used car manager and in fact it was Herb Connolly Hyundai’s mistake or more likely their contractor’s mistake. Therefore, Herb Connolly Hyundai should have taken responsibility for it and that the price of the car was indeed misrepresented. When we did the financing they told us about extending the warranty and my wife agreed to pay more for that. I specifically asked what a certain figure on the paperwork was for and it was nicely explained to me that it was Gap insurance and they “had just broken it out but that it was included in the package price. They figured out the monthly payments and as far as we knew everything was fine and we just had to pick up the car the next day after they took care of things with the Registry (DMV). When we went to pick up the car they had charged us again for the Gap insurance which was supposed to have been included. I knew that was not possible and my wife sat down with the Finance Manager and my wife figured out that they were charging us an additional $500 approx. for the Gap insurance and that it was not included in the package contrary to what I had been told. I refused to take the car and we left. After a lot of arguing and being told that they had a signed binding contract and that the Finance Manager didn’t need to speak to the person that told me it was included and that I should have thoroughly read the contract and done the entire math with a calculator they did eventually absorb the difference. From the General Manager’s perspective they did the right thing for us in this case. From my perspective it never should have happened and they misrepresented what they were selling again, they wasted my time and all I did get was the extended warranty that they had represented I would get. I would never recommend this dealer! More

I found a used car I liked on a Kelley Blue Book Search Site. It was a used car and one I could afford. I have never bought a car from a dealer before, usually from private parties. I did not know what to expect and needed a car as close to immediately as possible. I called on a Monday Holiday, Presidents Day, and explain I would be driving to their dealership right away with the registration plate from my old car and would like to pick up the care and drive it home if we agreed on a price. From my home to the dealership was approximately 40 mi. The salesman, Peter Franklin, was a personable, helpful person to negotiate with and one of the dealer's principals was also working that evening. My offer was discussed and it was explained to me that they were able to reduce the price by a few hundred but not as much as I had hoped for. But the car was already reasonably price. they had done work on the car, and I agreed to the purchase. This is where I was really surprised: these people were able to take care of everything - the registration transfer, faxing my insurance agent, arranging for a follow-up visit for a state inspection, and a final cleaning and check-up of the car. There was a 90 day warranty, and the option of purchasing a 5 yr-100,000 mi warranty if I wanted, for a very reasonable price. It may be that all dealers do these things these days, but this was my first experience with a dealer and it was outstanding. If I, or my wife ever need a car again, we will go to this dealership first, especially to see Peter Franklin, the very nice salesman. I will tell people I know that may be looking for a car also. These people are the BEST (Herb Connolly)! More
We have purchased a new Sonata and used Elantra from this dealership previously - so we had a history. The Elantra needed to be replaced. We received one follow up call - which is all we wanted, more than that would have irritated us. We decided to purchase the Hyundai and went back to Peter. He was able to work with us over the phone to come to a final price. We were able to come in and within two hours pick up our new car. This process is usually very painful for us but this salesperson and dealership are not high pressure and worked with us in a very pleasant way. More
