In my direct personal experience and opinion, Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota is BY FAR the most unprofessional, inconsistent and incompetent dealerships w In my direct personal experience and opinion, Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota is BY FAR the most unprofessional, inconsistent and incompetent dealerships we’ve ever encountered from before the sale, to service, to dealing with management and up until and after the termination of my lease. I went there solely because the next closest dealership was around an hour away and I didn’t want to travel that far just for service (one of my biggest regrets ever). The first salesperson (#1) I met there noticed my partner’s expensive handbag and started showing us the most expensive cars even though we explicitly asked to see the 300 series SUVs. Then when he showed us the GLE 350, he said the price would be around $6,000 over sticker, when dealers were not doing that commonly. We left and a few days later I e-mailed the general dealership and another salesperson (#2) gave a much lower and fairer price for the same exact car. #2 gave us a fair lease payment, but we didn’t fully realize that the dealership again over inflated the price, but since we were only going to lease it for 3 years it didn’t matter so much to us, although that did harm us in the end. Lesson learned: #1 gave an over inflated price from the start and #2 gave us an over inflated price more deceptively. Then after numerous false promises of delivery from #2, we finally got the car. Then within a day or two the KEYLESS-GO (where you walk up to the car it unlocks) didn’t work. I contacted #2 and brought the car to service around a half dozen times over the first couple months. The service department physically had the car for over a month, showing in my opinion, their clear incompetence or unwillingness to resolve issues. Note I provided them with videos of me walking up to the car with the fob in my hand and using that hand to unsuccessfully open the door and explained that almost all of the loaners we received had the same exact issue. Ultimately the KEYLESS-GO issue was resolved after a few months and we fortunately didn’t have to deal with Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota’s service department again until the first scheduled maintenance (which surprisingly went smoothly). Then late in 2023 we unfortunately had to end our lease early due to an unexpected move to Portugal. As a result, we went into the dealership and salesperson #3 mentioned #2 was busy and sat us down in his office and ran the numbers. #3 said we’d owe around $2 to $3k and could even break even turning it in. #3 said to e-mail #2 and schedule the turning the car in. #2 responded to my e-mail saying we’d owe closer to $10k, so I e-mailed the Sales Manager and Used Car Manager who also e-mailed me once the appointment was made explaining the disparity and none of them responded. I then get an e-mail from the Acquisition Manager stating he will “Complete the transaction in approximately 60 minutes”. We get there when I scheduled and although it was a quiet Friday morning, the manager kept buying more time and basically shrugged off the disparity between their two salespeople and said we’d owe around $9k rather than the $2 to $3k explicitly offered by #3. Since we were leaving for Portugal on Saturday, we unfortunately had no choice to accept it. Fast forward after 3 hours of waiting and having to sign and re-sign documents the manager admitted he made mistakes on prior versions and after being told it would take 60 minutes we left. I then contacted the General Sales Manager explaining everything that transpired and she said there was nothing she could do. Although a couple days later, she copied me on an e-mail about a dealer trade she was waiting to be paid on (that I had no right to receive) showing in my opinion just solidifying how unprofessional and inconsistent Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota is. Note I also contacted Mercedes Customer Support and they only said they'd look into it, but I never heard anything more back. More
