We are generally unicorn hunting when it comes to shopping for a new vehicle and this past round was no exception. However, it was easily the most aggravating experience I can recall that took form o shopping for a new vehicle and this past round was no exception. However, it was easily the most aggravating experience I can recall that took form over several weeks, from dealing with a variety of sleazy sales personnel, outright false advertising, sub-par quality product, etc. One dealer experience even resulted in their behavior being reported to the Texas DMV. Admittedly, I wasn't expecting much else when inquiring about a potential vehicle match at Avondale Mercedes-Benz (non-dealer brand), but I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience - most of which stemmed from the demeanor of our sales representative, Marco Lopez. I've been in sales myself my entire career and a small business owner for nearly 14 years. And while selling has come naturally to me, I think the bulk of any real success I've had didn't come until I was on the purchasing end of things, running a business and trying to sort through the noise of each and every buying decision. Over the years, I've found those to be easiest with people who can see things from my perspective before trying to dive into whatever sales pitch they have. Marco quickly understood that we'd stepped foot on the lot not because his dealership's reputation, or advertising, or anything else that might give them a false sense of superiority, rather it was merely by chance - they happened to be in possession of a slightly used Ford Explorer ST that checked nearly all the boxes we were looking for. I think we'd had the entire scope of the conversation and purchase completed in no more than 36 hours. I can't speak for all the sales reps at Avondale, nor am I in the market right now for a Mercedes-Benz, but if I knew anyone that was, I would send them Marco's way without hesitation nor expectation of anything in return. More
