They do NOT care after the sale! I chose Mel Hambelton (MH) for a variety of reasons. I needed a safe vehicle from a brand I could trust, and was referred by a family who had purchased multiple vehicles from MH over the years. I had a great experience with my vehicles (I’ve bought two from MH), and ended up referring another sale. I was extremely satisfied… until a month ago. While driving through KC my vehicle stopped driving in the middle of traffic on a hill. Scary. We brought it to the nearest Ford for service, and I explained to the mechanic that surely the problem was new as I had just been serviced by MH 3 weeks prior, and at the time an inspection was completed. I received a call from the mechanic a few hours later. Both of my front struts were busted, I had zero front suspension left, and my driver’s brake, brake pad, and caliper were destroyed (causing that brake to seize). He said there was absolutely no way this was recent damage and estimated it had been there for about 2-3 months, just getting worse and worse over time. I was shocked. How did MH complete the inspection and miss it? I was certain MH would try to make this right. Fast forward nearly two weeks and countless phone calls. I couldn’t be more disheartened or disappointed. The excuses MH presented were ridiculous. “The inspection was completed strictly for the issue stated at time of service” Really? That service 3 weeks ago had been for air conditioning. How did you complete a multi-point and brake inspection, as you listed on my receipt, ONLY in regards to the AC? “The other Ford is exaggerating, trying to get your money.” So you’re saying I can’t trust other Fords except MH? I am a part of a military family. We expect to move every couple of years. I have to trust other branches… that was a huge part of the reason why I picked Ford. “Get the vehicle to OUR dealership and we’ll fix it out of ‘good will’.” It broke down in Kansas City. It would’ve cost a ridiculous amount to tow it that far, and MH wasn’t willing to pay for it. The last interaction with them was a lovely conversation with the “customer service” manager, Stan. Stan wanted to “educate” us, in a passive-aggressive threatening manner, on how MH has a team of lawyers. And he wouldn’t want us to lose more money in this situation by paying for one lone attorney to go up against a team of lawyers that deal with situations like this “all the time”. How thoughtful. The cherry on top? They make you sign an Arbitration Agreement at the time of the sale. Reader, if there’s anything you take from this post, NEVER SIGN AN ARBITRATION AGREEMENT. You essentially forfeit the right to pursue standard legal action in most instances, such as this one. Even if the dealership is in the wrong. Even if the dealership missed something on an inspection (or as it seems in this case, just didn’t complete it) and sends you out in an unsafe vehicle (had the brake seized on a highway I likely would have wrecked. Thank God that didn’t happen with my 3-year-old sister or my puppy in the car.) I made the wrong choice here… Ford isn’t a brand you can trust. Mel Hambelton isn’t a dealer you can trust. Mel Hambelton does NOT care before and after the sale, and will make you sign that Arbitration Agreement to ensure they don’t have to. More

He tried to convince me I owed for my service and cable which would of come to a tune of $498.00. He insisted the warranty would not cover the cable and I owed for oil change. I told him we took out an extended warranty and the original was still good. Only a little over 25,000 miles and have only had the vehicle 2 years plus 4 months. We bought it new! So you all do the math. After calling someone (which I think was a fake call) he then said ok your covered. I thought to myself I TRUSTED Ford to be honest that's why we have bought cars there through the years. I wonder how many others almost got scammed and might have paid this. I am so disappointed in the staff there for not backing me up on this. We paid ALOT for this warranty and because of someone's stupidity we almost got taken. I called Cris at customer service, she said his boss would get ahold of me. She was nice but I have not heard back from anyone in about a month. Wish I had a positive review to send, but the truth must be told. Please, ask about your service and make sure their records are right. They are masters at twisting words to make it look like the customer is wrong. More

Each time they said it was fixed, and once even said they had replaced the seal. I was tired of taking showers every time I went to the car wash. So we called Scotty, and with only a one word description (sunroof....husbands are so verbose). The tech had found the tear and repaired it. I am so happy to say I haven't got a shower since! This is just one of the many reasons why we will always stay loyal customers. Mel Hambelton has the best service and sales staff. More

My Chevrolet needed AC repair and I knew it would need a new system. I called the week of 18-22 July 16 and got an appointment for the service on 25 July 16. When I told the young lady that I would need a ride back home (I live in Derby), she wanted to know if I bought my car there, I told her no, then she said that they could not provide a ride for me because it was outside of Wichita. Needless to say, I cancelled the appt and will never go back. Plus, I will never consider buying a car there now. There are plenty of service centers who do want my business. My AC replacement also led to a fan clutch replacement and the customer service was excellent ! More
They ruined my head light unit replacing the bulb. I took my Ford Focus in to have a head light bulb replaced. They ruined the the head light unit while replacing the bulb and charged me 70.00 to do it I took my Ford Focus in to have a head light bulb replaced. They ruined the the head light unit while replacing the bulb and charged me 70.00 to do it. When the other head light bulb needed replacing I took it to a local mechanic and he replaced the bulb in about two minutes without having to remove the whole unit and so no damage was done to the unit. And oh, it cost 14.95. Needless to say that the next time that I need any work done on my cars it won't be at Mel Hamblin. Also, I will never buy another car from them either. More

I told them I wanted something fixed, in addition to the other work they performed. They failed to fix it. When I discovered the problem, I fixed it myself in about 5 minutes! Totally inexcusable on their part. I wouldn't let them touch my car in the future. I would also like to point out that any reviews left on their website, that are bad reviews, will NOT be posted. Hence all the 5 star ratings. How convenient on their part. Good reviews OR ELSE. I might point out that they overcharged the hell out of me for what they did do. After undergoing, a rigorous 172 point inspection, one week after purchase, I noticed some vibrating I purchased a Ford-Certified-Pre-Owned vehicle. After undergoing, a rigorous 172 point inspection, one week after purchase, I noticed some vibrating in the steering wheel when brakes are applied at high speeds. After further inspection, all four brake rotors were warped. Unfortunately, after spending several wasted hours and gas. I am very concerned How And Why this vehicle was advertised and passed such rigorous inspection, considering the previous owner documented this safety defect, a week prior to entering mhford’s inventory. Although, brake rotors are not covered under the extended warranty program, the service team repaired the issue, resurfacing the brake rotors without any hesitation. More
