Went in for service on an electric vehicle purchased from another Chevy dealership. During check-in I let them know that the car had been dying on trips and that the 12v battery had been tested at low voltag another Chevy dealership. During check-in I let them know that the car had been dying on trips and that the 12v battery had been tested at low voltage, but I asked if they could run a diagnostic on the charging system to make sure of what was causing the issue. We agreed on a diagnostic service and price. They called back about 4hrs later and said that the car had died on startup (like I had mentioned happening before) and that they couldn't do the diagnostic with a discharged battery. They offered me a new 12v battery, installed for $600, as the only way to perform the diagnosis, which I declined (whether this includes the diagnostic or not I don't know). We picked up the car and paid the diagnostic fee because of the man-hours involved to jump start the car and push it out of the shop, but have since realized that we were mistaken not to mention the issue right away, because now we feel totally ripped off. If the service dept. had mentioned that they can't perform a diagnosis with a discharged battery in the first place, then nobody would have had to waste an entire afternoon and we would have saved a bunch of money. We learned nothing except that we really dislike working with dealerships. The service we paid for was never done. We reached out to our service rep and also asked for a manager to get back to us so that we can reconcile the situation, but haven't heard back in about 4 days. A mistake like this without accountability is entirely unprofessional and I hope that they reach out. More
