McGrath Volvo Cars Barrington responded

Carroll, You inquired from out-of-state on a pre-owned 2016 BMW X1 on the morning of 11/10/20. You spoke to our sales manager who answered all your questions and introduced you to your sales rep who provided further information about the vehicle along with more pictures. You made the appointment that afternoon and arrived at 4:30PM. After viewing/driving the vehicle for 1.25hrs (30min of which you had sat in the vehicle with your son without our sales rep), we started with our proposal at 5:45PM. By 6:45PM we had agreed to a deal and moved forward with the legal documents. During that evening, our team sold 4 vehicles, and your purchase was the last one in line for the finance manager. Despite that, you were still done with the purchase process and left home a little after 8:00PM. Your time spent here was a little over 3.5 hours, not 7 hours as you've claimed. In the vehicle description, our comments stated that the vehicle was equipped with the "Premium Package," which included a host of great features, including a 1 Year SiriusXM Trial. When we advertise our vehicles, we typically copy the data word-for-word from the window sticker as the manufacturer has stated when the vehicle was brand new. Sometimes, there are features or accessories you will not receive when the vehicle is pre-owned, such as any free subscription-based trial content or floor mats or even roof racks. Typically, we remove these from our vehicle descriptions to ensure there is no miscommunication. In this specific case, we had forgotten to do so. At the end of our vehicle descriptions, we also write "*Dealer not responsible for typographical errors, photo errors, pricing errors, or equipment errors. Please verify with a dealer representative that all details listed are accurate." We write this because we know that nobody is perfect and humans do make mistakes. During the proposal stage, you had asked the sales rep about the 1 Year SiriusXM Trial. Not having an answer, he stated that he would ask a manager. During a slightly overwhelming proposal stage, the sales rep forgot to ask a manager as his primary focus was to find a suitable proposal that fit your needs and terms. During this stage, you asked repeatedly about the price of the vehicle, to which we responded that we are a One-Price store and do not negotiate the prices on our pre-owned vehicles, which did not sit well with you. Had the price not been a fair price to begin with, you would never have made the trip down to IL to make the purchase. The next morning you reached out directly to the sales manager and asked about the 1 Year SiriusXM Trial. Our sales manager explained that no pre-owned off-brand vehicles will ever have a free year of any service and apologized for the description error. You persisted to badger our sales manager and demanded that we pay $253 to fix this issue. We told you that we wouldn't pay for this as it was clearly an error. As is turns out, SiriusXM offers a free 3-Month Trial of their service to anybody who purchases a pre-owned vehicle. However, this was not enough for you and you stated that this was extremely disappointing. We disagree. This is not a big deal. All of our pre-owned vehicles come with a free year of The McGrath Advantage, which you did not mention. This means you have a free year of Road Hazard Wheel & Tire Protection, Dent & Ding Coverage, Windshield Chip Coverage, and 2 Oil Changes. Also, you receive free car washes, inspections, loaners, and shuttles for life! The value of our McGrath Advantage far outweighs that of satellite radio, as the majority of customers would agree. At the end of it all, we did not elude any questions you had nor were there any malicious intentions from our team. Our team was respectful and friendly. You purchased a very nice vehicle, paid a great price, and got a great rate. Therefore, we disagree with your statements and believe that your experience did not warrant a 2-Star Review.
