Franz was willing to work with me putting me into the vehicle I wanted at a price I could afford. Needless to say Barrington Volvo's attention to detail, friendly service, and customer care will have me buying vehicles from them for years to come. I should also mention that I travelled approximately 40 miles from Downers Grove to Barrington to make this purchase after just 1 phone conversation with the owner himself. To Franz and the other's at Barrington Volvo thank You for introducing me to a great deal, and the best vehicle I have owned. Thank You, Joe Mihalec More
It is our first time to buy a Volvo car. We just purchased an XC90 with Konrad yesterday. Here is our story. We saw their online special and stopped by for a test drive. We met with Konrad in the s purchased an XC90 with Konrad yesterday. Here is our story. We saw their online special and stopped by for a test drive. We met with Konrad in the sales office. He was very patient to answer our questions and concerns. We test-drove the 2010 model and noticed the noise when speeding up the car. We realized that the Volvo is different from the Japanese cars. We went home with bad feelings of Volvo cars. The car was not available on that day. We felt that the special was simply not real at all. A week later, I got a phone call from Konrad to inform me the car was in the dealership and asked me to do another test drive. This time it was a brand new car and much better than the first one we tried. We loved the one and decided to buy this one. We did not negotiate the price since we thought it was a reasonable one. But we did negotiate the trad-in of our Sienna. Two days later, my wife, my kids and I went the dealership and finished all the paper work. Konrad detailed out all the equipments in the car. My daughter is especially impressive about the Konrad and the dealer. Everyone in our family had a very nice experience over the dealership. We love our XC90. More
One of the worst cases of customer service I have EVER experienced. My wife and I bought an XC90 from Volvo Tinley Park this past winter. Barrington Volvo wouldn't come down anywhere near the price Tinl experienced. My wife and I bought an XC90 from Volvo Tinley Park this past winter. Barrington Volvo wouldn't come down anywhere near the price Tinley Park offered. No real complaint there, just a difference in margins and business practice. Yesterday (10/1/09) my wife and I dropped her XC90 off at Barrington Volvo to get an oil change and to check a few minor noises. The actual service tech I spoke with was knowledgable and while I had to call him to get an update overall was happy with the actual service performed. I confirmed that the cashier would be on site until 6pm. I left Oak Brook at ~4:40pm (normal commute of ~45minutes). Due to severe weather and accidents on the roadways at 5:45pm I determined I would be late to pick up the car. I called, asked to speak with the cashier (who was friendly) and asked if I could pay via credit card over the phone. She said that was no problem and asked if I would like the key left in the car or at the sales desk. As I didn't have a spare key with me I asked if it would be a problem to pick it up at the sales desk. She confirmed that would not be an issue and that the paperwork would be ready upon my arrival. At 6:22pm I arrived at the dealership and went to the sales desk (note - there were no customers in the building at this time). The person who greeted me was nice enough - got the credit card receipt for me to sign and handed me the key. As I turn to leave, Franz, says "weren't you supposed to be here at 6:00pm?" I responded "Yeah, it took me over an hour and a half to get here - that's why I called the cashier ahead of time." Franz: "well, we are doing you a favor and you really should have been here at 6:00." Me: "Wait, a second are you actually hasseling me?" Franz" "Yes" Me: "You've got to be kidding me, you really want to throw away our service over 20 minutes?" Franz: "Yeah, it doesn't matter." (as Franz is now shoeing me out of the dealership) Me "I am literally shocked; this car has less than 20,000 miles and you don't want a chance to service it for the life of the car?" Franz: "No." Franz "You didn't even buy your car here" "Good night" Me "Not sure how that makes a difference, if you are servicing the car" Franz "Good night" Me "Excuse me are you the manager?" Franz "What does that matter?" Me: "I doubt the manager wouldn't like to lose business" Franz "It doesn't matter. Good night" (Door shuts) Upon arriving at home I find that the license plate holders have been replaced with "Barrington Volvo" holders. Unbelievable. I will NEVER go to that store for sales or service. In fact, I am so torn up by the situation that I would seriously consider ever buying another Volvo. I have had no issues with my Acura and recieve courtesy service every time. Avoid the Barrington Volvo dealership at all costs. More
