And, when I made my decision, he even helped me program the Blue Tooth, radio, and walked me through listening to music through my I pod. He also showed me how to access driving directions through my I Phone on the car audio system. That was very helpful!!! Loved McGrath 15 years ago. Hate it now. On July 18, 2014, I bought a 2014 Honda Civic at McGrath Honda, St. Charles, Illinois. I traded in my 1999 Honda Civic. The reason I went to McGrath w On July 18, 2014, I bought a 2014 Honda Civic at McGrath Honda, St. Charles, Illinois. I traded in my 1999 Honda Civic. The reason I went to McGrath was because I bought my 1999 Civic there 15 years ago and had a wonderful experience - even though I live 40 minutes away from the dealership. Not this time. I was at the dealership for 5 hours before driving away with my new Civic. Most of the time was spent waiting. I bought a remote starter to have installed there later in the week. I also had to give them a $95.00 check because I did not have my title with me – I was not expecting to buy that night, just look and test drive. Craig, the finance manager, told me I would get the check back when I brought the title in. On July 19 I called the service department to make an appointment to have the remote starter installed. I took the car in on July 26 as scheduled. I was told by the service manager that they had not been notified about the remote starter by the sales department and therefore did not have the parts. I made a new appointment for Tuesday, July 29 to drop off the car and get a loaner. I do not blame the service department at all. It was the sales/finance manager's fault. The service department was extremely efficient and helpful. They kept me informed of the progress and the car was ready when I was told it would be. While I was there on July 26, I gave them the title and talked to the sales manager Mike. I told him that if possible I would like my old Civic back. He said that wouldn't be a problem but they did find it had an oil leak. I found this extremely doubtful since the car never left oil spots anywhere I parked it and I parked it in the same spots at home and work. Also, it was less than a year since I had the car totally checked out at McGrath. I told him I didn't care. He again agreed I could have the car back. I told him that just to make sure everything was absolutely clear I was going to get my 1999 Civic back on Tuesday and I would give them a check for what they gave me as a trade in. He said absolutely. On the 26th, even though I gave them the title to the 1999 Civic I did not receive my $95.00 check. On Tuesday, July 29, my son left work early so we could drop off the 2014 Civic for service and pick up the 1999 Civic, as agreed to by the sales manager. When we got there, I told Mike we were there to pick up the 1999 Civic and that I had a check for the trade in amount as agreed. He told me the car had been shipped out on Tuesday, July 23 to be auctioned off for parts – 4 days BEFORE he told me I could have it back. He was also very rude. I was extremely upset and told him so. He could have cared less. I also asked for my $95.00 check since they now had the title. They told me it was locked in the safe and they couldn't get it until the next morning. I said I would pick it up on the 30th when I picked up the car from the service department. When I got there on Wednesday, July 30 I was told by the finance manager, Craig, that all my paperwork was in Elgin and the check was in that paperwork. He said he would get it the next day and mail me the check as soon as he received it. McGrath Honda St. Charles has not fulfilled any of the promises they made me. I ended up being at the dealership four days comprising many hours, a lot of time traveling back and forth and dealing with 3 different people in the sales/finance departments. I do not have my 1999 Civic back, they screwed up the installation of the remote starter due to not communicating with the service department, were rude and/or uncooperative, and I did not receive my $95.00 check until August 16.. I will never buy another car at that dealership. On the other hand, I am and always have been very impressed with the service department at McGrath. I had my 1999 serviced there whenever check-ups were due and never had any problems. More
Horrible experience, NEVER stepping in this dealership again Inquired about 2014 Accord over the internet and person AT responded with a quote. I then responded with a different quote from another dealer. She then replied me 2 days later asking me if I was still in the market to buy the car. I wrote her back saying yes. Consequently, on the same evening, I was planning on purchasing a car from this other dealer, which I told her about. She then told me that she would talk to her manager and will call me back if they can compete the offer. She called and LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL saying the final price (out the door price), which was competitive with other offer. I called her back saying either my uncle or I would stop by that very evening and make the deal finalized. In a meanwhile, she assured me that when we get there, "everything will be ready". In the evening, my uncle and dad went there and talked to the salesperson about this. They knew about the deal and what not, so told them to wait as "they were busy". They then weighted and checked the car out (took about an hour or so). Salesperson then came with final paperwork, which was priced over $2000 than what I was told on the phone and in that voicemail. My dad told her about what AT and I talked about and what not, but they insisted they she probably have said that price by mistake (really?not once, twice, but three times by mistake). My dad called me and told me what was going on. I then tried calling AT, but guess what, it goes to her voicemail. I tried calling her 3 times in 10 minutes and same thing. Then I waited for about 5 more minutes and called for the 4th time and this time a receptionist transferred me to her phone without even saying hello (he checked my caller ID, I guess). So I am very positive that everyone there knew what was going on at this point. I called my dad back and told him to just walk out and they did. This whole experience was nothing but an insult to us. Their motive was just to harass us by calling there in person and not buying the car from another dealer. It was totally unprofessional from their end. I was really mad that night and wrote an email to AT expressing my concerns. She replied the next day apologizing and as expected she didn't know about this at all. She accepted what happened there as well. Since then, I have filed a complaint to Honda headquarters and BBB (Better Business Bureau) . I still have all those voicemails AT left me and emails as well. As a customer, I would NEVER EVER step into this place and I hope you won't too. More
