A car is a significant purchase and the process should be made easy, which McGrath Honda did and did well. The sales team helped get the exact car I wanted within 24 hours (they didn't have color specs in inventory), showed us how everything worked in the car and made appropriate settings based off a pre-established questionnaire, and the finance department expedited the financing process. Best car buying experience to date. More

However, they tend to do a horrible job hiring people who work for them. To expedite the purchase process and not wanting to haggle back and forth on a purchase, I contacted the dealer’s internet sales department and was given an “E price” for a new CRV, which I felt was fair. I was assured the car was new and they would have it ready on their lot for me to test drive and purchase at the price I was quoted online. I was also given a price for my trade in, which was in outstanding condition as confirmed by the salesperson at the dealer. When I got there the person I was supposed to meet was MIA, Mike Bennett was ready and willing to help, and I have no complaints about my interaction with him. Much to my chagrin, the car was not at the dealership, we drove to a remote lot to get the vehicle, the car had almost 300 miles on it and the low fuel light was on, good thing we did not go for a long test drive. Mike was apologetic and stated that is the only vehicle they had in the color I wanted. I was then told the used car manager was gone for the day, however Mike gave me a trade in value from Edmunds website which was close to close to what I had received online, I felt I could do a few hundred dollars better and told him that. He then disappeared for 10 minutes, I was not expecting the old antiquated “good cop, bad cop” routine. Mike came back with his Manager Shiraz, who oozed of arrogance and came across as being full of himself; he immediately low balled me with a price that was $1500 less than what I was quoted by Mike and what I had received prior to coming to the dealership. I decided I would be better off giving my business to someone else, I would rather pay a couple hundred more than to entertain someone like Shiraz, whose tone and delivery is so poor that he should not be working in a field that involves dealing with people. This dealer lost by business because of Shiraz who was full of himself and suffers from an inflated ego. I wonder how much more sales, ownership is willing to lose, before Shiraz goes from being an employee of the company to a customer. More
Unprofessional, disrespectful, false quotes We went in to lease a new civic. They agreed to honour a quote from a competitor dealer and told us to come and that the quote would be honored. We spent 2 hours, did all the paper work, test drove, asked and made sure we were on page with our quote (ran the credit) and at the very end they stated they cant give the car for the quote we had and offered a price higher than any other dealer we asked. Finance person Shiraaz was worse than a slacky used car salesman. We didnot agree to his pathetic counter-offer (again higher than anyother dealership) and at my defense i only claimed why they agreed to match a quote from elsewhere and call us in (have email and voicemail proof) when they clearly couldnt and his response to that and i quote "this is what happens when people like you bring in fake quotes". This utterly shrewed and disrespectful employee is a disgrace working at Mcgrath. It felt no less than being at a crappy dealership where customers and respect dont matter but whatever it takes to sell does, and if you cant close the sale, treat the customer like crap. Extremely disappointed. I own an acrua from mcgrath acura westmont and never have i ever been treated with such rudeness and disrespect, that always made me believe the name mcgrath honda and acura distinguish themselves from other dealers due to their sincerity and courtesy towards their customers, but Shiraaz definitely made me rethink the trust i had in this dealership and its counterparts. I would pay a higher price anywhere else than purchase or step foot in that dealership More

I did do research on the 2017 CR-V EX and Michael showed other options that the car had while we took it out for a test drive. After the test drive we discussed what the CR-V EX would cost me; I immediately thought that what he presented me was a better than fair price. I went to other Honda dealers closer to my home and not one sales person asked me if I needed any help or even asked "how are you doing?". Other Honda dealerships had a terrible website and I didn't even bother going there. My neighbor gave me his salesman's name at another dealership and while he was okay, he played a game with the price of the car. It was just a different style of asking the customer how much do you want to pay for the car; "how low do you want me to go?". That type of selling a car didn't impress me. I haven't bought a new car since 1994 so I did shop around at other dealers and each was different. I made an appointment with Mike so that my wife could also see the car, and we were able to put some money down and order the exact car we were looking for. White exterior with Black interior. Michael looked around for one in the Chicago area and finally found one. He kept me updated on his progress in locating the SUV. The day we drove it home Michael showed us everything and more about the CR-V. We received e-mails from Michael thanking us that he was able to help us out during our car purchase. A day later I had one question and called him up and he told me where to find the answer on the car; it was under the steering wheel's info button, which he did show me. He sent another e-mail that explained to me that when I come in for oil changes and car washes to call him first for the oil change. He basically said "call me whenever you have any questions about the car". We love our new car and we made the right decision in buying it from McGrath Honda and having Michael Pompilio as our sales person. Whoever we spoke to at the dealership also added to our excellent buying experience.. More
Best Customer Experience Leasing a vehicle-Michael Pompilio We visited McGrath along with various other dealerships in the early stages of our research for a new vehicle. Initially, we had reservations on whether a minivan or an SUV was the right choice for our family considering the size of the vehicle coming from a compact SUV. Additionally, we were considering buying versus leasing. We entered the showroom, which by the way, was well maintained and inviting. After a few minutes to settle in and survey the various floor models, Michael Pompilio gently approached us and offered refreshments (water, coffee,… spa treatment…jk) and immediately put us at ease through casual conversation that did not feel contrived but instead had a certain familiarity as if we were meeting with an old friends for brunch. When the topic shifted to the intent of our visit, Michael demonstrated a subject-matter expertise and provided an objective perspective on the pros and cons of the minivan versus the SUV, the various trim levels, as well as for buying versus leasing. Michael answered all of our inquiries with an effortless candor and provided us with ample pamphlets with footnotes from our discussion, which clarified the various trims levels that greatly equipped us with clear and concise information to actualize our needs in a pragmatic manner. Sticking to our plan to conduct further research, we made an unpressured departure. Subsequently, we reflected on our experience and expressed like-minded opinions regarding how Michael broke the mold from the typical commission-based salesperson. Being a military veteran, I was extremely impressed by Michael’s outstanding work ethic. My wife, being in the service industry, commented on Michael’s professionalism and empathetic approach. We agreed that his disposition was both gratifying and refreshing, which made a lasting impression on us. The remainder of the day, we visited several other dealerships and found comparable vehicles that also met our needs This factor left us faced with a challenging decision, which narrowed our scope to the Honda Odyssey and another competitor’s minivan. However, we easily observed the contrasts between the salespersons that were void of Michael’s appealing qualities. Some time passed and all the while, the various dealerships that we visited emailed us with current offers to earn our business. However, Michael’s emails didn’t seem generic. They felt like a well-thought out narrative that seemed more like an invite to a party with us being the guests of honor instead of a squeaky wheel trying to get the oil like the others. It was Michael’s contribution that literally steered us back to McGrath as if we were dowsing for water. During our final visit, Michael’s disposition remained consistent with our previous experience and we completed the deal. We happily exited the lot in a new Honda Odyssey with that fantastic new car smell and have not had any buyer’s remorse that comes with the purchase/lease of a vehicle. Overall, Michael seemed to genuinely take pride in expending his energy towards the care of the customer by accommodating our needs in every way and, as a result, gained our business, which in turn, met the need of the dealership. Great deal! I visited this dealership in mid December. I was looking to purchase a new vehicle, and was unsure about whether to go with an SUV or a minivan. My f I visited this dealership in mid December. I was looking to purchase a new vehicle, and was unsure about whether to go with an SUV or a minivan. My first contact was with Bruce, who is patient and kind in showing me all of the features of the cars. He did not pressure me, nor make me feel in adequate in anyway. After visiting a few more dealerships, my husband and I returned to this dealership to hopefully get a best price from them. We dealt with Mike P , Who was as nice as could be. This dealership treated us with kindness and respect, and also gave us the best deal. We visited another very busy dealership in the area, and were not treated half as nice as we were treated here. Buyer Beware My husband and I purchased our 5th vehicle in 10 years from McGrath Honda of St. Charles in 2012. We were sold a "Certified Used Honda" 2010 Honda Od My husband and I purchased our 5th vehicle in 10 years from McGrath Honda of St. Charles in 2012. We were sold a "Certified Used Honda" 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L in that should have NEVER BEEN CERTIFIED! During the last four we have had on-going issues with the driver’s door not shutting appropriately, the vehicle pulling to the left and never being able to hold an alignment. Four years later we are having even more problems with the front left, drivers side, area of the van where later we found out our van was actually in a wreck in 2011! At the time of purchase, our salesman Jack Davis, gave us a Carfax report that showed that even though an accident happened only a two-wheel alignment was performed misleading us to think that this car was in a VERY minor accident, which made it certifiable. Had we known that during their "150 point inspection", that was supposedly performed prior to being certified, that this van was in a major car accident a year earlier we would have never purchased this vehicle! We were mislead by McGrath's "Certified Used Honda" report when considering the purchase. Fast forward, four years later, after moving out of state, we take our vehicle to another dealership where their mechanics can clearly see all the repairs and damages that our vehicle sustained in this accident! They even said this shouldn't have been certified! Yet McGrath Honda performed a 150 point inspection and didn't notice that this 2010 Honda Odyssey was in a wreck, I have a hard time believing that. BUYER BEWARE. IF you are at all considering purchasing a "certified used" vehicle from Honda McGrath, just know that they will literally certify anything and everything. It's questionable if they actually performed a 150 point inspection! I'd like to see that inspection and the detailed notes. NOW suddenly the Carfax report now is shows ALL the information about the wreck that wasn't on the report 4 years ago. So McGrath Honda is telling them that it wasn't their fault that they didn't know about the vehicle being in a wreck and that Carfax reports aren't that reliable. My questions to them is - AREN'T YOUR 150 POINT INSPECTIONS RELIABLE!? Me things not! We have emailed Chris McGrath and have tried to explain our issues that our vehicle's resale value isn't going to be very good now and that we paid a premium for this van to be "Honda Certified." He did nothing to help us!!!! Well we have filed a claim with American Honda regarding this "Honda Certification" of our vehicle. More
