I recently purchased a 2011 wrangler Unlimited Rubicon from a non Jeep dealer in the area. The vehicles first owner had mis-placed parts of the soft top. The dealership asked me to have the soft top ins from a non Jeep dealer in the area. The vehicles first owner had mis-placed parts of the soft top. The dealership asked me to have the soft top inspected for a previous recall and to put together a parts list that they would then purchase. I explained the situation to the Bay State Service Manager and asked if someone could help me put the soft top up, check the recall and put together a parts list. I then explained that I lived close and would be using Bay State for service related issues and maintenance of this vehicle. The manager gave me a song and dance about having to stretch the roof fabric and also that the top probably wouldnt match new windows so I should just buy a whole new top. I then asked what he would charge to just put the top up, inspect it and put together a missing parts list. $150.00 is what it would cost for this service at Bay State! I then went home and in ten minutes put the top up and made a list of the needed parts. When I returned to Bay State I asked the Service Manager if it was a normal practice to take advantage of their customers? I received a shrug. When I approached the General Manager his responce was simply that he was sorry. This was a great test and suffice to say I will not be going to Bay State again. More
A little hesitant at first, I drove up to Baystate from CT because they had the Durango I was searching for. From initial phone conversations to test driving, Mike Raffaele was fantastic. Very cooperativ CT because they had the Durango I was searching for. From initial phone conversations to test driving, Mike Raffaele was fantastic. Very cooperative and upfront. The entire experience was casual and pressure-free. Working with Josh/Rick, they explained the entire transaction and did not try to hide any details like other dealerships. Very cooperative too with the CT registration process. Overall, it has been a long time since I had a good feeling walking out of a dealership - with or without a new car. Baystate was great from the beginning and still is even after I purchased the Durango. I would definately recommend my friends and family still up in MA. Great job guys!! More
Excellent dealership. Easy to work with and very flexible to make the right deal. George Henning and Josh Depietro went the extra mile and should be recognized as such. flexible to make the right deal. George Henning and Josh Depietro went the extra mile and should be recognized as such. More

I had brought my Dodge Ram 2500 to Baystate dealership in Newton on November 22nd, 2011 and they repaired a transfer fuel pump @ a cost of $721.02 and picked it up on November 25th, 2011. On December 1st, 20 Newton on November 22nd, 2011 and they repaired a transfer fuel pump @ a cost of $721.02 and picked it up on November 25th, 2011. On December 1st, 2011, one week later, I had the truck towed back to them because it was having trouble starting, and staying started. On December 5th, they told me that I needed to replace the high pressure fuel pump and it would cost $3000.00 and never checked the part they just replaced a week prior. They just said they checked the pressure and that was ok. I had to pay another $352.50 in labor to them and I then had the truck towed somewhere else @ a cost of $105.00 and they found that the transfer fuel pump replaced in Newton was cracked and that was causing the issues. I had to pay another $681.99 for that repair plus the cost of having a rental car during all this. I went to the Baystate with the repair bill and the cracked part and asked to be reimbursed for the first repair of $721.02 that obviously was not done properly. They said they would have to do some research, which I completely understood and gave them the time to follow up. I touched base over the next few weeks and was told they were waiting on something from the other repair shop and then they had to wait to see if the part would be warrantied by Chrysler, the maker of the part. Everytime I spoke to Dave, I let him know that reimbursement of the $220.00 part would not be satisfactory to me, as I felt they should not make me pay for labor for a job not done properly. I received a voicemail yesterday, January 11th, 2012, from Dave stating they have a check for me in the amount of $267.05 for the part plus tax. I left him a message to call me, and in speaking with him this morning, he stated that was all they were willing to do because I chose to take it somewhere else and that I didn't give them a chance to make it right. I reiterated that they had the chance when I brought it back a week later and they had it for four days and never looked at the part they replaced and that they do not stand behind their own work. At this time, I was again told that the part was the only thing warrantied and that was all they could do, so I told him that I was not accepting that check and would be in touch. He then told me that if I bought an appliance @ Sears and it broke but I had the repair done through Target, Sears would not cover that repair either. I bet if Sears was given four days to fix it, they would cover the cost if they couldn't. He again stated I didn't give them a chance to fix it. It was there for four days the second time, is that not enough time for them? I don't think I am asking too much to expect a certain level of customer service when I spend $1073.52 in one week for something to be fixed. All I want is to get $721.02 back for the money spent the first time I had it there, is that too much to ask? I have never had to go back due to faulty work on a vehicle before and hope I never have to again. I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee from them over a year ago, and I'm overall happy with the car when it's working. Buying a certified pre-owned car, I took the assumption the car wou from them over a year ago, and I'm overall happy with the car when it's working. Buying a certified pre-owned car, I took the assumption the car would not have any major or minor issues, but apparently I was wrong. My jeep has been back to the dealership to be "fixed" over a dozen times so far and it's still not fixed, apparently something as simple as a tire pressure issue is to hard for them. They were nice and helpful when I was purchasing my Jeep and when I signed up for an extended warranty, but when it came to a "simple" tire pressure issue, it was more like pulling teeth with them. It felt like I had to make them believe that there was an actual tire pressure problem after the third time bringing the car into the dealership. A number of times, I had to call the dealership to get answers from questions I asked previously, when they said they would call me and inform me of the answer. Within the last year, I have never seen my car salesman who sold me the Jeep and my original service associate, I can only assume they've been fired or asked to leave. Really disconcerting as a customer when you don't know if your going to have the same service personal you've been working with between services. Bottom line.... Expect good help, but poor knowledge when buying your new/used/pre-owned car from them. Don't expect your car to be fixed the first time, no matter how simple. And they're employees aren't worth befriending, because they probably won't be there for your next oil change. More
