I believe people typically feel dealing with a car salesman is a negative experience due to the stereotypical "pushy" salesperson. Our experience with Marc and everyone at McCarthy Chevrolet was the salesman is a negative experience due to the stereotypical "pushy" salesperson. Our experience with Marc and everyone at McCarthy Chevrolet was the exact opposite. They were friendly and very helpful without being overly aggressive. There was no rush. Marc took the time to go over every detail of the invoice, look at the different vehicle options, was ready for us when we came in, from our first visit to vehicle pickup it was a positive experience. We had originally contacted a dealership closer to home but they didn't have the colors in the model we wanted. They were supposed to search for the colors we were interested in, and this was a week ago today. We just received a call back from them this afternoon, a full week later. We were very glad we decided to not wait and go to McCarthy they had a great selection of what we wanted, it is so much better to view the vehicle in person than simply look at a picture. More
Things to remember if they tell you they will call back or promise to, they wont. You the customer will have to call them and call them till somebody will answer. Once you buy the car you are on your own, or promise to, they wont. You the customer will have to call them and call them till somebody will answer. Once you buy the car you are on your own, they could care less if you come back as a customer or not. Just getting the title for the car I bought was a hassle. I have bought many many cars in my life at least once a year and I have never had a bad experience like I have with McCarthy Chevrolet. A Joe Slick operation they are. I sure wish I had gone through to read all the bad reviews about this dealership before hand. More
Several weeks ago, I noticed a gas odor coming from the rear of my Saturn Ion. Upon researching, I discovered that was a symptom of a fuel pump problem that was recalled by GM in 2010. I never received any rear of my Saturn Ion. Upon researching, I discovered that was a symptom of a fuel pump problem that was recalled by GM in 2010. I never received any notification of this recall. This dealer was the GM-recognized Saturn repair center following their closing of the Saturn brand. Naturally, I took my car to this dealer since it was a recall issue. When I explained this issue to Scott, I asked if there was a recall for this problem. He said "No.". I then provided him with the recall number. He looked up something on his computer and said I didn't qualify. I figured he probably didn't have any control over that, so I said I'd call GM and he said "You can try." My first sign of their lack of helpfulness. I called GM that day, received a case number and spoke to a very pleasant woman who seemed very interested in helping. She asked if I had the service advisor's direct number and I provided his desk phone and cell phone number. She put me on hold to call him. When she returned, she noted he did not answer either number but she left messages and would call me back the next day. When I picked up my car I asked Scott if he had talked to GM. He said he never received any calls or messages. Then just silence. No offer to call them, or try to help resolve the question. I asked if he would call her. "I'll try." was the response. Well, after a week of calls back and forth with GM, they finally were able to speak with someone in the service department and the dealer would not refund the charge. The reason, they stated, was because my car was over the milage limit for the recall. The only problem with that is that when the recall happened, I would have been under the limit. But I was never notified and if I had been, of course I would have had the part replaced. I am disappointed and disgusted with both this dealer and GM. The dealer tried to hide and avoid the issue, and GM was cowardly. The right thing to do would be to honor the recall because I was never notified. But they are using a false technicality to avoid responsibility. In reading various reviews of this dealership, I am now not surprised. If at all possible, I would avoid this dealer and I will do everything in my power to make sure that anybody I can warn about this dealer, I will. Shame on you, McCarthey Chevrolet. More
I was broke down with family in town and needed some quick service. I called the service department and Scott answered and told me to come in. When arriving at the dealer I was confused on where to go a quick service. I called the service department and Scott answered and told me to come in. When arriving at the dealer I was confused on where to go and found the service people in a room. After standing by my car trying to figure out where to go and what to do, there was a young man that come over and told me that I needed to go into the room. I was greeted by a person that went out and got my car and came back in. After he tried to help me found Scott had set my appointment and escorted me to his desk. Scott was very nice and asked a lot of questions. They offered me a rid home with a nice man named Gary. Scott called 1 1/2 hours later and gave me the bad news on how much my car would cost to fix. They fixed it and Gary came and picked me up. I came back and visited Scott and he escorted me to the cashier and he went and got my car. I met him at the car where he smiled and wished me luck with my family. He was so polite and nice. I will do business again with him More
I found the car online and it was exactly what I wanted. I am a 9 hour drive away, so I had Carl, who was excellent, tell me everything about the car over the phone. It was in excellent shape, so I flew out I am a 9 hour drive away, so I had Carl, who was excellent, tell me everything about the car over the phone. It was in excellent shape, so I flew out there. Carl was very gracious and picked me up (45 min drive). I checked out the car and it looked good, except needed to be washed and cleaned. After the car was washed, I noticed a scratch about 30 inches long on the passenger side. I showed Carl who let me know he could buff it out before I go, but the person who could do it was not there. Because it was getting late and I could buff it myself I left. Big mistake. I took it to 3 shops when i got home who told me that it would involve painting and could not be buffed out (fingernail caught when rubbed across. I have been back and forth with Carl on the phone who was trying to get approval to help me fix it. The dealership said "NO"; because it was already built into the price. HOW COULD IT BE BUILT INTO THE PRICE WHEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THEM!! After several weeks of trying to resolve the misconception that the dealership didn't even know about the scratches therefore could not be built into the price, I'm giving up. DO NOT BUY from this dealer if you are out of state!!!!! They are dishonest after you buy the car!!!! More
I never had a more rude person (Greg the finance manager) to deal with. He spent more time worring about what his fellow workers were doing, left the room several times to check on what was going on in diff to deal with. He spent more time worring about what his fellow workers were doing, left the room several times to check on what was going on in different parts of the dealership. Was on the phone trying to take care of a cash deal, rather than putting interset on the deal i was trying to make.. I have bought several cars and trucks from the Blue Springs dealerships, and was always treated like they were there to help the customer, sorry I can not say that about the McCarthy Cheverolet of Olathe. The salesman Tom Hardin was very kind, and helpful More

I bought a used car about a week ago. After a little negotiating, the price was around where I wanted to be, but I waited a week to buy the car. During that week I talked with Jamie several times and h negotiating, the price was around where I wanted to be, but I waited a week to buy the car. During that week I talked with Jamie several times and he always answered my calls or called me back right away. When I went to pick up the car I arrived at McCarthy around 6:15 and did not leave until about 10:00 pm. After I had already signed all the papers I was told that they "could not find the key fobs or spare key." The car that I bought has remote start so the key fobs are very necessary. I was assured that it would not be a problem to get new fobs and Jamie even said that he would personally drive them to my house....what a lie! I have been trying for days to call Jamie and even Ryan McCarthy without any answer or return call. This is a GM Certified car that is supposed to have all its original parts. It's great how they can answer every call when you are interested in buying a car, but after they have your money it's unlikely that you will ever hear from them again!!! More
After a horrible experience with Shawnee Mission Hyundai, McCarthy’s team was great to work with. Shawnee Mission sold the car I wanted, had another one coming in, the salesman said it was the same price, w McCarthy’s team was great to work with. Shawnee Mission sold the car I wanted, had another one coming in, the salesman said it was the same price, when I went to finalize, they raised the price! I went to McCarthy that night and drove home in a 2012 Cruze. They were great to work with! More
