Successfully scammed me out of ~700 in the end. Sold me a car that was not in a condition as described at all, from having a cracked wheel that was welded, to touch up paint sprayed in various spots and patched cigarrette holes through out the interior. A deal that was supposed to take a few days to complete, took 3 weeks to complete. Multiple titling and clerical errors. This location apparently doesn’t have any managers that work there. Make sure you know your stuff if you decide to do business with Max Madsen, or they will take you for quite a ride. I consider myself very experienced in car buying and I did all the right things and asked all the right questions, but they were still able to pull the sheets over my head. I contacted Max Madsen Mitsubishi of Aurora about a Performance vehicle they had for sale. Being that I reside 14 hours away from the dealership, I first asked if they were willing to ship the car and the sales person, Jayden, had said yes, that they ship vehicles all the time. I requested more detailed pictures of the car, that if I decided to have the car shipped instead of driving out, I would want very detailed pictures of the car. Jayden not only took pictures, but also sent me a video of the car. The car looked great in pictures and in the video. I asked Jayden to run numbers using a down payment of 3,000 dollars. When Jayden send me the figures, they did not add up at all. After drilling into the details of the numbers, I realized that not only did they take into 3,000 down, they added it back onto the cost of the car, on top of multiple fees totaling over 1,500 more. I of course declined the deal, told Jayden that the numbers are not adding up and asked for a better deal. I was told they were not willing to negotiate, that the price was firm. Communication stopped for a few days. A few days later, I asked Jayden for a better deal and they were then willing to “drop the price” down to an “out the door” price, which would include shipping, taxes, registration, titling, fees, etc. Everything included. This new price, made more sense to me, after crunching the numbers, I essentially was getting the car for asking price + taxes, and getting shipping, titling, registration and fees for “free”. I accepted the deal on the condition that Jayden confirm the car was in flawless shape – No scratches, dents, holes, rips in seats, etc. jayden confirmed the car was like new with zero issues. I asked to apply for a loan. I asked for my credit to only be ran once. After not liking the results, I gave permission to run my credit again. These results were favorable, so I went with it and placed 3,000 down on the car. Jayden had the paperwork mailed overnight. When I received the paperwork, I noticed the price was $106 dollars higher than agreed upon. I brought this up to Jayden and I was told it was because shipping was much more expensive than expected. Reluctantly, I agreed to pay this extra $106. At this point, it is important to note that 99% of our communication has been through email and text, with the exception of calling to put a down payment on the car, and communication was very quick, typically within minutes. While continuing to review the paperwork, I noticed there was no “Registration” fee anywhere as being included. I tried to contact Jayden multiple times about this and did not get an answer, so I called and spoke with him. There was a “Document Service Fee”, that I was assured was the cost of registration. This is not what the paperwork said, but I unfortunately took Jayden’s word for it. I also made mention to Jayden that the agreed upon financer was scribbled out and another one was written in their place. Jayden stated that they never ran the credit report from the other lender, and went with this 3rd lender, While not okay with this, I did not see the credit report one my credit karma so I went along with it. I finished filling the paperwork out, but before sending it back, I asked Jayden for more details on how the car ships. He explained that as soon as they received my paperwork, they would contact a shipper and it typically takes 2 days for the car to be picked up. I expressed that if it was going to take anymore than a week, I would come get the car myself and get a shipping refund. Jayden assured it would be shipped quickly. I sent the paperwork back to Max Madsen. Once the paperwork was confirmed to have been returned on Monday, communication pretty much ceased to exist. Being anxious and already having concerns on how previous things were handled, I tried contacting multiple times through text and phone for days before there was an update. The update I received was that they have to receive the check from the lender before shipping the car. While I can understand this from a business perspective, that is not what was explained. The next day, the check was received from the lender on Wednesday afternoon and I was told the car would be getting picked up Friday morning. Communication ceased once again. On Friday morning, I asked for updates throughout the day. There was no communication until Friday night, which was that the car did not ship out. I became frustrated and wanted answers. I told Jayden I would be coming out to get the car. I did not get any replies. Saturday morning, I tried contacting managers. Apparently, Max Madsen’s managers don’t come to work until 11A. I left multiple voicemails, and tried calling back multiple times looking for ANY manager from 11A until 4P. I finally received a text from Jayden basically stating that his manager dropped the ball and a shipping company wasn’t even contacted. Of course, I became very frustrated again and not only wanted answers, but began to suspect something shady was going on. Jayden sent another video of my car to try to relief some worries, and then it was radio silence once again despite multiple attempts at communication. The following Monday I began trying to communicate again to no avail. Tuesday, still radio silence. Wednesday, I was finally told the car was picked the prior day. I tried to get a delivery date and once again we entered radio silence. Finally, on Thursday night about 9P, I was told the car would be here Friday. Jayden apologized that this is the first time him and his manager have shipped a car (but prior he stated he does it all the time). Friday came and went and no car was delivered. The transport driver contacted me and apologized that he had been held up in route because he was sick – understandable. The car arrived Saturday. The transport driver was very pleasant and very professional. After the car was unloaded I began inspecting the car Immediately. It is important to note at this point, the car was very filthy inside and out. The first thing I noticed was that the bottom of the front bumper was in very rough shape, but not noticeable unless on the ground looking at it. I took the car for a drive, and I noticed the TPMS for the tires had an error message, but otherwise the car drove well. I parked the car and was fairly happy with my purchase. the following Monday, I received my tax check in the mail and went to register the car. The check was not issued correctly, and I could not register the car. Additionally, the check did not contain enough to cover titling and registration fees. Jayden was of no help with either of these issues, and neither was max madsen initially. Finally, in the later afternoon, their clerical/finance department contacted me and told me they sent a new check out. This check still did not contain the funds for Registration or titling. I was finally able to get ahold of Jayden, and he told me those costs were not included in the deal. I forwarded Jayden the proof (texts/email) that these were supposed to be in the deal and he continued to deny it. Tuesday, I received the new check and registered the car. While registering the car, I noticed the mileage was written incorrectly on the title, it was off by about 800 miles. but I was not allowed to correct it without going through a whole retitling process in Illinois (4-6 weeks at a minimum). Hopefully, this doesn’t show up as a future “mileage rollback” issue on Carfax. Additionally, the Lender wasn’t any of the banks we discussed previously, it was a new, 4th bank! All these finally came through on my credit report as 5 hard inquiries, the 4 banks and Max Madsen as a 5th. I decided to clean the car before putting my plates on. When I cleaned the car, I found a dent in the hood, a dent in the roof, scratches on the rear bumper and found a 6” by 6” section of the front bumper that was very obviously damaged and was spray painted over with touch up paint. Then when I went to put the front plate on, I noticed they screwed holes into the front bumper rather than using the factory mounting holes, creating very ugly, obnoxious holes in the front bumper. Once I began cleaning the inside, I found there was a patched over part of the front leather seats. Given the type of vehicle I purchased this is all very upsetting. I didn’t even bother texting Jayden about this, knowing that he nor Max Madsen would cooperate, if I could even get a hold of someone. I'm editing this review to include more issues found with the car: the rear brakes were in need of replacement, when the driver rear wheel taken off, it was discovered that the wheel had been welded from previously being cracked. Right after I walked in, That was a very bad experience when I went there to check out a used Hyundai Genesis. The sales executive name was Ryan. Right after I walked in, this guy asked another guy to pull the car and left me in the lobby, not even telling me to wait there or come in side. I had no clue where to go and what to do next. I stood there for a few mins. Then I went into the service area by myself and saw him with the car. I then started checking out the car and went for a test drive. This guy neither showed much interest nor gave me that excitement. He was just answering my questions. BTW, I was really excited since I liked the car after the driving. When I was asking him about the options in the car, he was like "it has all the options"! After the test drive we came into the office and I then had to use the restroom. After coming out of restroom, I had to again search for him. We then sat at the computer for the next steps. He never sounded friendly or cooperative, but sounded rude and arrogant. I dont know if he was going through any personal issues. But I dont expect this from any sales rep especially after the test drive. I asked if the price is negotiable and he was responding as if I asked something very bad. I wasnt asking for a crazy deal or anything but as in any business, I was trying to negotiate. I told him my offer as $995 less than the listed price of $20,995 to start with. He said that I dont know anything about the car market, I dont know technology, I dont know what a car is worth etc. I was stunned with the way he started responding to me. I asked him about the 112 points report he said he will show me during the drive. He went inside and gave me a print out with price comparison of another car. Not only he didn't show me the 112 point report but he started showing his rudeness. I took my cell phone to show him similar cars nearby. He was like, "I dont want you to shop for car now because I have other things to do". I said, OK whats next(I was still interested). He was like "I can reduce $100, but if you dont want I wont reduce that also", in a very sarcastic and disrespectful way. He sounded rude and frustrating from the beginning of the conversation. I was telling him I have a good credit (I had the credit report with me, I didnt show him yet) he said, he doesnt believe it since all people say that. I said, I can see the car is not worth that price based on KBB and everything, he said, I dont know anything about cars. He was telling he and his manager has only 20 mins more at the shop and he needs a decision now. I was feeling very bad since I was not getting treated as valued customer. I have been to a couple of dealers before, and they were awesome. I dont understand if anyone gets treated like this will ever end up buying the car. I liked the car, I had a check with me for the down payment and I was ready to buy the car. But just because of the unhappy and frustrating feeling that I got, I decided to walk away. Any average sales person could have sold me that car yesterday with the actual listed price if he just had the right attitude. I shook hand with him and walked away. It was really a miserable experience. So I will never recommend this dealer if you are expecting a customer satisfactory experience in buying your car. For me, I want to feel the day special when I buy a car, but this guy just ruined it and ended giving me a frustrated evening. Don't go there guys or at least avoid this guy! More

One problem after another.. Recently purchased a 2013 Lancer from Max Madsen and this was my experience. Already being set on a Lancer, my only option was the semi-close Max M Recently purchased a 2013 Lancer from Max Madsen and this was my experience. Already being set on a Lancer, my only option was the semi-close Max Madsen in Aurora IL. After gathering a list of in stock vehicles I may be interested in, I went to the dealership to check them out. My salesmen, was very kind and understanding and overall a cool dude, he respected that it was a 30 minute drive for me, and I have college and school, so communicating via email was a must. In all honesty, he was the only helpful one at the dealership, and the only positive thing about my experience there. So after a week or so of back and forth, I was finally able to seal the deal on a 2013 Lancer, with 21k miles. I have put 5k on it so far. Was extremely happy, at first.... Hindsight 20/20, and here is why I feel like it was not a fair purchase and why I wouldn't recommend Max Madsen as a company. For starters, after looking up my car on KBB (Which I should have done in the first place), I realized I was sold a car that was worth about 4000 less then what I signed for, and about 12k less then what I will have paid by the end of my loan, because of an insanely high APR, which was not made clear to me at the time of sale. After buying my car, I started experiencing many problems, the list being: Wheel bearing gone bad (I assume from a horrible alignment I couldn't see in the dark, finally enough stress on the bearing has it making noise), I was lied to about having bluetooth (to discover it was only Pre-wired), many of the outlets in the car seem to cause issues with the radio if an item is plugged in, multiple paint blemishes, and when it got below freezing, my car would not start, and required multiple jumps (which probably wasn't easy on the alternator, which I expect to go next). What would the dealership do? Nothing. I was told I had a bumper to bumper warranty, and even if that was another lie, you would think some kind of implied warranty would still stand. Yet they are wanting to charge me 70 bucks to even look at it, and telling me my warranty does not cover any of the problems, because it is used, and I was told it was certified pre-owned, which to my understanding there is a difference. After being in contact with Max Madsen for about 2 weeks straight trying to get anything resolved, I have realized that it's just not going to happen, and my first "new" car buying experience has been ruined because of the ethics of this dealership. Maybe I should've researched more, xxxx I should have, but now I'm being taken on a ride that there is seemingly no way out of. More
Brat dealership ever! I cannot even begin to express in words how grateful we are for purchasing our vehicle from Max Madsen in Aurora. We purchased a used Kia Sorento and I cannot even begin to express in words how grateful we are for purchasing our vehicle from Max Madsen in Aurora. We purchased a used Kia Sorento and had absolutely nothing but problems with it....at no fault of this dealership. Kia refused to stand by their warranty and Max Madsen wouldn't let that slide. They stand behind their product no matter what. We were able to bring back the Kia and renegotiate into a brand new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander and couldn't be more pleased. They have gonna above and beyond and even one notch above that! From the manager, Anthony, to our salesman, Jon Schulz, and even the service manager, Todd, you couldn't receive better service. We are absolute lifetime customers to Max Madsen in Aurora and highly, highly recommend you purchase your future vehicles from there as well! More
