I had not purchased a new vehicle in 20-years, so I admit my defenses were down, and perhaps deceptive, high-pressure sales are the norm these days...or perhaps simply the desire to satisfy the stereotype of my defenses were down, and perhaps deceptive, high-pressure sales are the norm these days...or perhaps simply the desire to satisfy the stereotype of "sleazy salesperson"...? I was conned into purchasing ~$6,500 (additional 10% of the vehicle MSRP) redundant/useless service contracts and warranties! The Toyota Highlander I purchase is amazing - but NOT ONCE was I told of how terrific the vehicle is, how well Toyota stands behinds its products, or even that this was a good dealership to buy a car! Instead I walked away with duplicate oil changes, duplicate warranties, duplicate drivetrain warranties, and 4-5 emergency roadside protection plans...I could literally create an entire new "contacts group" for the emergency roadside numbers. EVERYTHING I PURCHEASED could have been added AFTER the ToyotaCare protection expired - except I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT the ToyotaCare protection plan!! But the bottom-line...it was my fault...I was the sucker...I allowed myself to be taken... More
