This was probably my 4th time to Longo, first 3 times were great but limited to oil changes and tire rotations. My daughter indicated that she thought her 2010 FJ Cruiser with almost 85,000 miles might need an alignment. After an oil change, tire rotation, filter replacement and repair to the emergency brake, I was told that the vehicle could not be completely aligned due to 'seized lock nuts on the tie rod ends'. I was presented with an estimate over $2000 for a steering rack and inner and outer tie rod ends, as well as another $800 for a cooling system flush and differential, EFI injector, and transmission services. I'd indicated that I had the $800 in services done at 52,000 at another dealer, and had the receipts I could produce. Apparently, they could not tell by examining these items whether they were indeed needed. The service consultant, David Araujo, took me out to the garage where I spoke to the mechanic, who showed me the tie rod ends. Since I had another engagement, I told David I would have to schedule the steering work for another time. I paid for the alignment and other work completed and left....... A short time later, I decided to get a second opinion from an independent shop, and was promptly told that none of the $2800 work was needed, especially the steering work. They indicated that I was being 'ripped off'. For a modest labor fee, they loosened the seized lock nuts and I went to a local Firestone, where I paid for another alignment that was a complete success..... I was left wondering just how hard Longo tried to free up the seized lock nuts. I will not go back to Longo - I paid for an incomplete alignment, which I was fine with, but could have spent $2000+ unnecessarily. More
