My name is Kary Loefler, Guest Relations Director for the dealership. First we would like to apologize to both the consumer and his father for any inconvenience this matter may have caused. Consumer (son) and his father, who were very nice, came into buy a car at Costco pricing last Saturday. He stated he came back here to buy from Ruben because he test drove two or three cars before with him. A team member S. Gamboa walked them over to the new car department because consumer decided he wanted a NEW Prius instead at which time D. Davila was introduced to the guest. After the sales consultant worked a deal, the son’s credit was ran, he only had two pieces of credit so he was considered a first time buyer. The dealership asked for $2000 down which should have been more but he initially wanted zero down. The deal was given to R. Lawson to finalize, while R. Lawson was putting everything together she noticed that our sales consultant was working on a 2014 not a 2013 which did not have the ZERO percent. This is not a dealership incentive but a manufactures incentive which cannot be altered, an honest mistake since our consultant was a new sales associate not a "bait & switch". Both R. Lawson and D. Davila went out to talk to the consumer and his father and told him the mistake that had been made. We offered to sell him another 2013 in another color, but the consumer only wanted Gray. Our sales consultant gave him the option to purchase the upgraded Prius which he declined. After apologizing again R. Lawson informed consumer that we would do a dealer trade from one our sister stores for him and that we were very sorry for the mistake. R. Lawson immediately called the Downey store (Toyota) and located the car for him. R. Lawson called consumer within 30 minutes to tell him we found him a car and I would deliver it to him on Monday. Consumer was seeking an additional $10.00 a month less on his payments for this mishap and we were not able to accommodate again not a dealership incentive but a manufacture. Consumer and R. Lawson were communicating via text on Monday in which the consumer informed her they had purchased their vehicle at Manhattan Beach by his house with ZERO down. In closing, there was no bait & switch just an honest mistake made by a new sales consultant. The dealership wished him luck and apologized again for the confusion.
