There is no excuse to charge $462. 27 for a car battery, + labor at $44.99, + sales tax of $38.21, for a whopping $545.47 total! I asked if they had any cheaper batteries, but Lance (sv 27 for a car battery, + labor at $44.99, + sales tax of $38.21, for a whopping $545.47 total! I asked if they had any cheaper batteries, but Lance (svc advisor, who's usually great, btw) said no. As a senior on a fixed income, I couldn't afford it out-of-pocket, so had to finance it, so add another $83+ in financing/interest charges, for a final bill of $628.73! For a battery that I could have gotten almost anywhere else in the city for under $100, & under $150 installed (which I could do myself)! It all started with my car dying & me being stuck with a dementia patient, having to call his care home to come pick him up in 98° weather/heat, & problems getting roadside assistance, having the tow driver "supposedly" "try" jump starting my vehicle with a handheld jumper unit, 3 times unsuccessfully, which when I asked if I should/could try using my jumper cables with the car next to me, he said "No, the hand-held is better than using cables with another car." I stupidly believed him & let him tow my car to Lithia. Once my car was unloaded, Lance came out & I showed him what was going on. He immediately said, "It's the battery, no question!" I replied, "Well, then it's weird that the tow driver couldn't jump it, this is the first time I've ever had a problem with it." He agreed, but walked me in to do paperwork & pay for a new battery, which I assumed would be totally dead & they'd have to push my car into the service garage. So, he lays the ridiculous total on me, then we add the financing interest & got it approved, & I made the first payment. Then, to my surprise, the service tech/mechanic jump started my car immediately, in seconds, then got in & drove my car into the garage! I turned to Lance & said, "I thought my car wasn't able to be jump started, which is why & how I ended up having it towed here! Can I cancel all of this & just take my car somewhere else now? Because I really can't afford this." He just looked at me blankly, shrugged his shoulders & said, "Well, the payment's already gone through & the financing's been approved & set up. But the battery has a good warranty." It was closing time & I felt rushed & overwhelmed, but thought to myself, "Yeah, so does Walmart!" It didn't even take the tech 15 minutes to have my car done & ready, I was essentially swooshed out the door. On the way home, I figured out the tow driver had obviously scammed me to get more money from my insurance company by towing my vehicle rather than just jump starting it. He had to have known it was just the battery, especially by the look on his face & the way he hesitated when I asked him to try jump starting it first. So, my head was spinning from all this ridiculousness, so I didn't notice until I was almost home, that my phone charger & charging cable had been taken from my car! It was clearly there & plugged in (as it ALWAYS is) when my car was dropped at the dealership (Lithia), & when I showed Lance what was going on when I tried turning the ignition. No if's, and's, or but's, my phone charger was there & someone from Lithia "removed it" from my car. WTH? Okay, NO, THEY STOLE IT, outright! There is NO other alternative. I called early the next morning at 7:30am, opening time, & left two messages. NO ONE, EVER called me back! Customer Service FAIL!!! But, shortly afterward I was sent a faulty link to make a review on this same specific review site, which didn't work/connect me to anything, but redirected me to an "unknown ip address/server" screen, so I replied to the text that had sent the link & said that the link didn't work. Another message & again, no response later, I ended up getting a new text with a link that did work, thus, this review. This whole incident occurred on 8/18/25 at approx. 4:15pm, when my car was towed into the dealership service driveway. Needless to say, I'm beyond extremely disappointed & will NEVER, EVER return! Unless they make it right, & they need to make this right! More
