I'm glad that you had a good experience with Dan, and it sounds like you're enjoying your new WRX! Regarding the change in your lease payment...it's important that you understand why the monthly payment changed...most importantly, that the change in your monthly payment was not due to a change in your selling price. Every month, Subaru makes adjustments to their lease programs. Most of the time, the adjustments are small enough that the dealership absorbs the difference, but occasionally the change is great enough that we are unable to do so. In these rare instances, we must pass some portion of the change on to the customer. Between the time we originally quoted your payment and the time you decided to proceed with the lease, the program changed with the new month...in your case, the residual value, upon which the lease payment is based, went down. All things being equal (selling price, capitalized cost reduction, sales tax, etc.), this will cause an increase in the monthly payment. On the rare occasion that this does happen, some customers choose to offset the difference with down payment to keep the payment the same. I certainly understand where the lease calculations that Kevin was making will cause confusion! While the computer software dealers use to calculate a lease payment is pretty standard across the industry, you are correct in the notion that the lease calculation can be difficult to understand. Once again, I appreciate your comments. We will use your feedback as learning material and will be sure to more clearly explain such changes in the future.
