Terrible, Difficult to Work With! DO NOT RECOMMEND! I loved it, so I went to test drive this pretty little lady. I was instantly greeted with an abrupt statement that the dealership would be nearing closing, an hour and a half away. I asked to test drive the car and was told to make it quick, as I was told again that the dealership would be closing. I took a 5-7-minute test drive and as I expected, the car was just what I was looking for. They were asking $14,995 for it, but I wanted to anchor low and see where the salesman met me. So…I offered $12,000. He laughed and pretty much said there was a snowballs chance in xxxx to get the car at that price, but that “he would see what he could do”. He came back about 10 minutes later and said that the best they could do was $14,250 because they owned the car for $14,000 so at this price they would only be making $250. Frustrated I left. Now I should have let that car go when I walked out of the dealership, but I just couldn’t. To my surprise, just two days after my test drive trip to the dealership the price was reduced by $1,000. So now the car was listed at $13,995. Surprising considering what I was told on Sunday by the salesman. I had to take another shot at negotiating my price. So I went in again. I offered $13,000. I was told much the same thing as before, they paid $13,972 for it so they would be losing money. Except this salesman, because I refused to even make eye contact with the previous shmuck, showed me the cost sheet for the inventory. I respected that there was actually a piece of evidence. So I requested a breakdown of numbers and decided to put a deposit down to hold the car. I spent nearly two hours in the dealership that day working through paperwork and such. Everything was peachy with the new guy, or so I thought. I needed to come back with my husband who had part of the payment and I had the other part. We also needed to get him on the title. Here is where it goes downhill…My husband is in the Navy and his driver’s license is expired since he hasn’t been able to go back and renew his license in his home state (xxxx deployment and serving our country). So we were told that he needed 6 points of ID for New York State, but since it was “illegal” to copy the military ID we couldn’t count that as one. Incredibly confused and a bit cautious, we sought advice on which documents they would except and moved to the next piece of business. We presented a bank draft from a very widely known military credit union as majority payment. Initially we were told that they would accept the bank draft, but after the salesman left to go ask, what we thought was a question about ID, he came back and said that the bank draft would not be accepted. We were told that this is company policy. He said we could however, of course, finance through the dealership. Once we rejected that option, we said we could also exchange the bank draft and get a cashier’s check because they would gladly accept the cashier’s check. Confused and a bit pissed off, we left. My husband called the bank that issued the draft and asked them if they had ever heard of a car dealership or anyone for that matter not accepting bank drafts. They were just as confused and said that it sounded very suspicious and strongly advised us to take our business elsewhere. They explained that the bank draft was essentially the same as a cashier’s check so it didn’t make sense. Curious, the next morning I decided to call another Lia dealership, one that was closer to the military support site to ask if they accept bank drafts and test the “company policy” around not accepting drafts. Sure enough…they DO accept drafts. So…now I am incredibly angry. I begin looking for cars elsewhere, but because I put a deposit down on the car at Lia of Albany, I keep in my back pocket. I told the salesman that we were sending back the bank draft and requesting a cashier’s check, which would take a couple weeks. He said we had until the end of June. I wanted to make sure I had a car before I told this guy to “stick it”. I am excited to report, we did find a car from a wonderful dealership! Ironically, the salesman text me to follow-up on the check the day after I purchased a car from another dealership. I very professionally told him that “due to the lack of flexibility and understanding” we decided to purchase our car elsewhere. He still contended that it was company policy not to accept bank drafts, at which point I concisely stated, “that is interesting because I spoke with another Lia site who was happy to take our bank draft”. The response… “I have no clue as to that”. The moral of this incredibly long story…don’t waste your time here! Or ask yourself if you are ok supporting a business that makes it so difficult for military families to purchase a vehicle. More

Jason Cross = Friendliness & Respect Jason Cross is fantastic! I was with my daughter when she test drove a Honda Fit. I was very impressed with Jason. Too many salesmen are pushy, or Jason Cross is fantastic! I was with my daughter when she test drove a Honda Fit. I was very impressed with Jason. Too many salesmen are pushy, or worse, they ignore or dismiss young women. Jason was knowledgeable, friendly and respectful. He dealt directly with my daughter and treated her as a valuable customer. She ended up buying a different make car, but I would highly recommend working with Jason Cross when looking for a car. I can't speak about the dealership or management, but if you want a great car shopping experience, seek out Jason Cross. More
