USED CARS MAY NOT BE REPAIRABLE AND THEY DON’T CARE. After our original Lexus was totaled due to an accident, we went back to this dealership for a replacement of the same model. Ended up with a used 2015 RX350 - not bad, was purchased quickly due to the need and trust/prior experience with this dealership and the need for a vehicle. Over the next year we brought that vehicle back to the dealership twice for “unexplained noises”. It went so far that a mechanic sat in the vehicle while the owner drove in a circle and listened to confirm the sound before finally tightening what was loose. Beginning of 2022 that car was shot at while parked (no one inside, most damage on windshield and top frame). We filed a claim and brought it to the dealer’s body center expecting a quick repair for the damage (the same place we brought it for noises). The mechanic found that the front bumper absorber and headlights had non-repairable damage completely separate from the gun shot damage. This was strange as we’ve never had it in an accident. We did a bit of digging and found the car was repaired by the prior owner (not insurance) before it was purchased by Lexus. The owner paid out of pocket for a minor accident according to the CarFax. There was no mention of headlamp or absorber damage in both CarFax and from the insurance company tied to the car at the time of the repair. Now the car is sitting in their Wayzata repair center, bumper off, headlamps off, not being worked on for the gun shots because of damage that happened prior to its purchase. We reached out to Lexus of Wayzata for help on the issue as any customer would when they realized they’ve purchased a non-repairable or defective item, but after talking with both the salesman who sold it to us and a supervisor we received no help on the matter, even with our brand and dealer loyalty. Just to note, I understand they aren’t actually responsible for the damage found. The issue is that even with their so-called “161 Point Inspection” not once did they bother to check the headlamps or bumper absorber to inform us of any lingering/extra damage. As if they expect us to remove the bumper ourselves and check the extent of the damage after we see the CarFax report as we car shopping. Keep in mind, this is all after the fact that we’ve brought the car in multiple times complaining about noises from it. Ultimately they sold us a non-repairable (headlamps need to be replaced, can’t be put back) and unsafe car. They did not do their due diligence in inspecting the vehicle and certifying it’s safety (bent absorbers ARE NOT SAFE) or ensuring it could be repaired. That is the issue with this dealership and why we are NEVER buying from this dealer again. More
