Dear Mr. Subrahmanian: Please allow me to first apologize for your dissatisfaction. We strive to provide an excellent experience for each of our guests, although it appears as though we did not meet your expectations. We had several interested buyers in the Subaru you came in to test drive as it was posted at a special sale price. We hoped giving you first right of refusal expressed to you our best attempt to provide you with the first opportunity before any other interested buyer. You indicated to both Glenn and to our Preowned Manager, Ed, that you were not interested in paying the full asking price on the vehicle and that you had a trade but had not brought it with you. Upon learning of your disinterest in the asking price, the vehicle was then sold to another interested buyer who did pay full asking price. As you can well imagine, our first obligation is customer satisfaction and to assist ready, willing, and able buyers. Unfortunately, with value priced vehicles, circumstances likes yours sometimes arise. Please accept our apologies for not meeting your expectations. If you don't understand what you folks did wrong then you are in the wrong business. It is not the car that was sold, it was how you handled this whole situation in an underhanded manner and insulted a customer. A car is a car is a car, but human relationships and respect surpasses everything else. When you are negotiating with one customer, you don't negotiate with another behind their back. Suddenly in the middle of the said negotiation, someone walks up and in a condescending manner tells you that they sold it to someone else. Why negotiate in the first place if you do not want to reduce the price of the car? You folks have to learn not to play games with customers and get away with it. You lost yourself a $40,000 sale which is what we did land up spending on our car. This may have meant peanuts to you, but there is something to be said about satisfaction and word of mouth referrals which you are definitely not getting from us.
