I would not have bought this car if my car had not just been stolen and I was in a vulnerable position of urgency. I wish I'd gone with a different dealership or even an individual off of FB marketplace at least has records of car care, charges less and would have taken 5 hours less to navigate. During my initial phone call inquiry, I mentioned to Stephen the other carmax related dealerships that offer 30 days no questions asked money back returns and 90 day warranties, in addition to the 3 year warranty you can pay for. He said "It is not our policy to offer any unpaid warranty. We can't put anything in writing but don't worry i will take care of you if anything goes wrong." I bought a used 2017 Honda which I had my mechanic check out the day after the purchase. He came back with a $3500 bill. They discovered the brake fluid was black and there was NO service papers provided for the car of the car except 1Carfax entry. I experienced the brakes as soft relative to my previous 12 year old car. When I drive the car over 60 on the freeway and brake everything shakes intensely. Two things on my mechanics fix it list I'd brought up while at the dealership, such as the alignment being off (I was concerned the car was vibrating which has shown up more as i've driven faster on the freeway since first trying it on side streets in the rain) and screaming windshield wipers. Before purchasing the car I was assured by the dealer, Stephen, that he'd take care of any of my concerns. When the windshield wipers made a horrible squeaking he said they could be replaced. This was of course forgotten by him and not addressed. It was raining when I left and was assaulted by the sound again, and the manager David tried to address it by pulling them away from the windshield. It stopped momentarily and then I drove home for 45 minutes with the windshield wipers not cleaning the windows And making a screaming sound during the scariest storm I've ever driven through. Of course, there is the predictable wearing down strategy that dealerships use. This one is no exception. During the 7 hours I was left waiting someone could have taken time to go over how the control panels of the car worked. That never happened. There was also a discrepancy (an over charge in taxes) on the paperwork that was caught by me. While they ate the difference, how many times a day do they do this and people don't catch it? NOTE: I was approached by someone else who'd been sitting waiting for hours, who told me that the transmission in the used BMW he bought died after 2 weeks. The people at the dealership came to placate and explain to me how this has never happened before. It was unsettling but I was willing to take them at their word. Upon calling them to give them the opportunity to make it right I was dismissed, told they'd speak to their mechanics and no one got back to me. It has been 4 work days. We all know how relentless dealerships are when they are trying to call you to buy a car. Interesting that when being accountavle no one calls back. I emailed both David and Stephen after speaking to David. I have received requests for a review daily from the dealership. I waited to post this in the hopes they would make things right and i would review things differently, but alas, they are completely unresponsive. Bottom line, go somewhere else. More
