Worst shop ever. If they touched it they broke it. I've got to tow my car home. Not kidding. They don't know how a CANBUS works, they will not listen if you read the service manual for them, when you know got to tow my car home. Not kidding. They don't know how a CANBUS works, they will not listen if you read the service manual for them, when you know what they didn't do correctly. It's obvious so much of the time. It's not a rocket. I asked if they had the diagnostic tools in the manual. Even the manager's manager did not know and was furious that I asked. It's not so bad had they read their scanner manual. It too says to same thing. In this case, you've got to copy the ID codes from the original ECM to the new one. I get this "post ECM" scan list showing that the ECM has suddenly with the replacement of the ECM lost all communication with all 9 control modules in the entire car. Their diagnosis was "bad engine harness". Based on what? 1 connection. I'll be sure fix that after testing it with the proper equipment I purchased off eBay. But these guys want $500 for a job they totally screwed up and I must pay or they just call the cops. I'll have a professional shop do the job over for $200. They specialize in these. $500. I'm not enthused about TOWING my car home. Yes, I must tow my car home. Since they lack the proper diagnostic equipment, they can't find the fuse or relay that's gone bad. They just use scanners today. That'd be ok if they'd read the directions on them too. I've downloaded and read a few and they all say you've got to copy all the ID codes for every control module in the car. Does this sound difficult to you? It's no more difficult than what you do when you copy and paste. But they just ridicule me for reading the service manuals and scanner manuals. If you want to be ridiculed, overcharged for damage they cause by not understanding the basics of a VW, and then be forced to tow your car home, then this is the place for you. I recommend any other place. More
Waited 2.5-3hrs for an oil change. I should have been told upon arrival how long the wait was so I could have made the decision to wait or not. Took one week to make the appointment as I would leave voic told upon arrival how long the wait was so I could have made the decision to wait or not. Took one week to make the appointment as I would leave voice-mails for the service department and no one would call me back. Kept calling at different times throughout the week. More
I have been taking my GTI to this location for 3 or 4 years now and always have a good and painless experience. Tim Larsen is the best advisor. It was easy and professional. I had to bring it back because there was a hose not attached back and it sounded like a race car. When I brought it back they were polite and professional. Great place, great service! They treat me like family! They put themselves in my shoes when recommending services. I never feel like they are all about the money. They put themselves in my shoes when recommending services. I never feel like they are all about the money. More
This dealer is under new ownership and many of their techs left. As a result, we waited many weeks just to get an appointment and were told that once we dropped off the car, they probably wouldn't even techs left. As a result, we waited many weeks just to get an appointment and were told that once we dropped off the car, they probably wouldn't even be able to look at it for about a week. That part turned out to be true. Ultimately, they fixed 2 of the 3 problems. But, we had a strong disagreement on the 3rd problem which was an alignment of a camera that guides the lane assist and ACC. As the car is still under warranty, I felt the alignment should be covered however Volkswagen will not cover it past 15K miles. The dealer said, "we didn't sell you the car" and "it sounds like you have problems with the design of the car, and we don't build the car". Ultimately, after running my battery dead and offering to fix it for $320 (I fixed it myself for $230--not difficult btw), I took the car somewhere else and the other dealer found damage behind the grill that was causing the mis-alignment. The fixed it promptly, washed the car, were a pleasure to deal with and even helped me get the insurance company to cover the damage. I will not be back to Lewisville. More
