When I got there, the salesman had me test-drive one with the GPS. Now, I hadn't been interested in a back-up camera until he had me back into the parking space when we got back. Fell in love with that feature (especially since it is difficult to see behind you in these cars). The salesman LIED to me, saying that only the GPS models have the back-up camera (the more expensive model, btw). I found out he lied weeks later when I was reading my manual and it said it is a feature that shows on a different screen on the non-GPS ones. The worst, most, crooked part came from the financing manager. We signed a lease contract with a stated price. This contract was fully executed, meaning myself and the financing manager had signed and dated the contract. A few days later, I get a call from the financing guy saying that my financing had been declined and I would need to spend an extra $30/month and asking when I would come in to sign new paperwork. I told him I'd call him back and went home to read my lease agreement. There was nothing in there saying pricing was provisional or that the dealership could cancel the contract if the bank didn't give them the financing they wanted. I called the financing manager the next morning and had this conversation: Me: So, I looked at my lease contract and I couldn't find anywhere that it says the pricing is provisional or subject to change. Him: (condescending voice, btw) Did you read the *back* of the contract? Me: Yes and I didn't find anything in there stating that the pricing was provisional. Him: Well, but it says we have the right to cancel a contract at any time. Me (polite, sweet voice): Really? Can you tell me what clause that is in because I can't find it in here? Him: I'll have to re-read it. I'll call you back. He never called me back. A week later, I got a call from someone else entirely asking for more details (paystubs, etc.) which indicated to me they were hunting down the financing. When the due date for the first payment was coming up, and I still hadn't gotten an invoice, I called the dealership. I had no idea who to pay and I didn't want my first payment to be late. The person on the phone told me they usually pay the first payment if the financing takes a while and then have the customer pay them back. She said she'd check and call me back. Nope, they hadn't made the payment for me. Thankfully, she gave me an 800 number to call and I was able to pay on time. But, I'm pretty sure they didn't make that first payment because they were mad that I wouldn't let them lie to me or cheat me. I signed up for their service contract, too. (person upselling it lied about it, too btw - it's a reimbursement plan, not a come in and get service plan) I will not be taking my car to their service department based on 1) the reviews on yelp and 2) fear of retaliation. TL;DR: Salesman lied and got me into a more expensive car than I wanted; financing manager tried to get me to pay more per month than we had in our already signed, fully-executed contract by lying - I knew better. Stay away from them. More
We just move from Asian country to Sunnyvale. So we have to get a car. After I purchased the car from Larry Hopkins Honda, we were called to the financial department to talk to Yen (I was not sure his name) to get a car. After I purchased the car from Larry Hopkins Honda, we were called to the financial department to talk to Yen (I was not sure his name) about settle the payment and sign contract. Then, he persuaded us to purchase the Honda Care which cost $810. On next day, we wanted to cancel because we were told it is far expensive. I went to this financial person and he refused to refund. He said it's on the contract and non-cancel. I was shocked because I haven't enjoy the service yet why I can't get the refund. I talked to our friend live here for over 10 years. He said it must can be canceled. So I called Honda customer service and easier get the refund check. While I talked to the customer service that I wanna cancel the Honda care, she firstly asked me to get this refund via Larry Hopkins. Then I told her it was rejected. I told the CS I don't know why dealer reject but Honda CS accept. She also replied me, she doesn't know either why dealer rejected me. Anyhow, the cancellation request is acceptable and I received the refund check. And, gave bad review to Larry Hopkins dealer while they send survey to my email, but until now (over 10 days), no one from the dealer respond to me. I would like to express that I will NEVER NEVER do the business with this dealer. I told this experience to all my friends and they will not deal business with Larry Hopkins Honda. More
I had the sweetest deal yesterday. Went there in the I had the sweetest deal yesterday. Also showed me which of those had least miles on it. I choose the color i wanted.Then came the numbers. This sales person was so good. he even negotiated the price, but the manager wasn't willing me to trade me at the rate i was asking for. So we left. Neverthless the Sales person "Omar" called me up within like 15 mins and followed up and asked me to come in the evening and assured me he would get me the deal. Went back in the evening, the guy kept up his word and I got the car. I had been previously to Capitol Honda and Stevens creek Honda as well, but had bad experiences like others, But these Larry Hopkins Honda guys were good, prompt and honest. All in all very satisfied, specially all because of their sales guy "Omar". More
Though I bought my previous Honda Accord from another dealer, I brought it in for service to Hopkins Honda everytime it needed it. The professionalism and high quality of work I encountered led me to pu dealer, I brought it in for service to Hopkins Honda everytime it needed it. I found a used vehicle on their website and I was very interested in it, so after emailing back and forth with Mr. Carter,the internet sales manager, we decided to make the long drive down to Sunnyvale in interested in it, so after emailing back and forth with Mr. Carter,the internet sales manager, we decided to make the long drive down to Sunnyvale intending to make a purchase. But the actual vehicle did not appear as depicted online; it wasn't even detailed and a handle was broken and there were dents and dings in it and the bumper color didn't exactly match the rest of the minivan! Upon having an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle we decided that there were too many issues with the minivan. After telling Mr. Carter the issues he directed us to the sales manager, who at least had the decency to reimburse us for all the gas money we were out of since we drove over 100 miles one way. Overall, I would not do business with this dealership. More
Hondas image is in jeopardy with the service these guys provide. Nobody cares about returning customer calls. I purchased a 2011 Honda Fit Sport from this dealership, and while I am happy with the car and its price, I am extremely displeased at the misrepresention of the car alarm sold by the finance manager, David and while I am happy with the car and its price, I am extremely displeased at the misrepresention of the car alarm sold by the finance manager, David, that I spoke with. Sales: Worked with Habib over the internet, asking him to match prices from other dealerships or lower the dealership's price. He was great at giving me quick responses and honest when he said that they could not go any lower. Very satisfied with his professionalism. At the dealer: Since Habib was off work the day I went in to purchase the car, he contacted Jay for me (on a day when he wasn't working!), and Jay was the one that took me for a test drive for the car and took my dad and I through the credit application. Gave us water and coffee while filling out the form -- quite friendly. Did not hesitate to answer any questions about the car. Spent about an hour with him test-driving and filling out the credit application. Gave him a printout of my email correspondence with Habib, and there was no further discussion for the price for the car. Finance: My overall main issue with the dealership that led to my 2 star rating was the misleading way that David sold us the Karr alarm system to us and the way the dealership resolved (or didn't resolve) the matter. David had implied that the Karr system that the dealer would sell to us would completely prevent tire theft by activating the factory alarm and included a shock, motion, and tilt sensor; however, after reviewing the flyer given afterward (there wasn't even a brochure for the system), the $505+tax (I know, I know -- we were ripped off) Karr system only included a shock sensor. Additionally, I found out later that these alarms were already preinstalled on the cars for the dealer's own insurance purposes, and all that they did was put some piece of plastic in a block under the steering by the driver's leg. My dad and I had thought that they would be installing a separate alarm for us at our request -- not have them try to sell us something already installed anyways. David had also brought up pictures on his phone that were supposedly tires that had been stolen from Fits at the dealership the other night to convince us to get the alarm. In hindsight, that was obviously a sign that the alarms did not work... He also sold us an extended warranty that I later found out was completely overcharged -- you can get a much better deal for an extended warranty with Saccucci Honda Care FYI if you really want one. My father and I revisited the dealership a couple days afterward to resolve these problems we had with the add-ons we purchased. We had asked that the dealership match the Saccucci Honda Care quote we received or cancel the extended warranty with them so we could repurchase it from Saccucci -- the dealership had no problem cancelling the warranty for us. However, since David was not in, we spoke with another financing agent Melissa, who later called in another person (I did not get his name, but I presume he was her manager) to address our problems with the security system we received. He stated that it was not store policy to refund the alarms. I explained that the alarm system was misrepresented and that my dad and I believed that we had additionally received motion and tilt sensors to prevent tire theft -- all that the second agent would say was the the shock sensor installed would go off if someone tried to jack the car to steal the tires. I asked him to prove and show to me that this would happen and he just stated that since it was raining outside (true) he would be unable to show us at the time. He also stated that he was unable to refund the alarm because once activated, it could not be deactivated or removed to place on another car. I could not believe this reasoning due to the fact that 1. the alarm was already installed on the car regardless of our purchase; it cost them nothing extra to sell, and 2. alarms are not activated or deactivated -- they are installed or not installed. Of course the shock sensor could be transferred, it was only a bunch of wires and a sensor. At this point, my father and I had spent enough time at the dealership trying to get a refund for the alarm, so we just signed the cancellation form for the extended warranty and left. I highly doubt that any further effort to gain a refund for $505+tax for the security system is worth any more of our time, so I am taking this as an expensive lesson and hoping to share with others not to fall for and buy the alarm or the extended warranty at the dealership you are purchasing a car. They are both drastic ripoffs. All I have to say at this point is that the sales representatives that I worked with were great and would have earned 5 stars from me, but the financing department really ruined the car-buying experience. P.S. I tried to test out the shock/impact sensor by setting the alarm and kicking the car repeatedly so that it shook -- nothing went off. More

Just wanted to post my recent experience with Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale, CA. I took my 99 Accord Coupe V6 in for 90k service and timing belt replacement. About a few days later, I noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine. So naturally, I thought that it was probably something they messed up on. When I took it back, their first reaction was to immediately say that there is no correlation between that symptom and the timing belt change. The service advisor even tried to threaten me by saying that if they took apart the engine and found out that it wasn't their fault, i would be charged for a 9 hour job. Luckily, I spoke to the service manager about this before taking the car in, and he said that they would take a look at it with no charge. They dragged their feet for a few days and everytime I called back asking about the status of my car, they would tell me that they are still looking for the issue or that they didn't get to my car yet, or we would have to charge you more to find out the problem. Not until I pulled in to their store after waiting for 4 days, did they give me this incredulous story: They said that it wasn't their fault for the knocking noise in the engine, then proceeded to show me a broken off headbolt from my car's engine block was the "culprit" of the knocking noise. They said somehow it broke off on it's own and fell into the valves causing the knocking noise. They were extremely nice about it EVEN though it took them 1/2 day to take apart engine to do this and replace a tensioner on my engine for free. Flags when up in my mind when I noticed this 180degree change in attitude. I suspected that they are trying to cover up a major screw up. The really stupid thing they tried to do was to convince me to buy a new car because of this "unfortunate" turn of events. They said due to the damage of headbolt coming off and the screw still being left in place it would be very expensive to repair the engine because when you extract it, it could cause damage to the aluminum block. So they even proposed for me to pawn this car off to some other dealership with this known fact and trade it in. That totally pissed me off, cause how could they even dare suggest a thing like this to their customer. More flags came up in my mind that this was some elaborate cover up for a mistake they made on my car's service. Not satisfied at all with their service, I took my car in the next day to private mechanic. He told me after reading their written reports that it was total xx. Basically they were crazy to even let me drive a car in that condition off the lot. I could have been in a serious accident if the engine had failed in the middle of a freeway. I am going to pursue this matter to the fullest. I will have more updates later since I should be getting back to work. But I just thought that I should share this story just in case if anyone else in the Bay Area decides to take their car into this shady dealership. More
